3 New GW Board Games On The Way This Year

space marines gw board games 1GW just revealed 3 new board games coming this year including a new Space Marines Adventures! Put these on your wish list for 2021!

Warhammer Community put up an article featuring a brief look at three new board games coming to the hobby sometime soon. While there are not too many details, it’s interesting to see simpler games coming out to make getting into the hobby a little easier for newcomers (or people or think the models are interesting).

Let’s check them out.

3 New GW Board Games On The Way This Year

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Bladeborn

A fast-paced and brutal game of clashing warbands for two players, Bladeborn sees Khagra’s Ravagers* face off against the Godsworn Hunt to earn a place in Archaon Everchosen’s armies.

The Board design also looks similar to Underworld’s hexagon formations, but with Warcry styled stat cards. As far as winning goes, there aren’t too many giveaways other than probably just killing each other.

bladeborn modelsBest of all, if your friends love Bladeborn, it’ll only be a short hop, skip, and jump into the wonderful worlds of Warhammer Underworlds and Warcry.

Neither of these models is new, meaning that this might be the perfect way to get your friend to test the waters without too much investment with an open path to go right into a larger game, without a full commitment.

Space Marines Adventures: Doomsday Countdown

doomsday countdownFans of Space Marine Adventures and new players alike can look forward to a fresh entry in the co-operative board game series, as three embattled Space Marines face off against a hive city swarming with Chaos Cultists to deactivate a cataclysmic weapon and perhaps even escape with their lives.

doomsday boardThe game contains 10 push-fit Citadel miniatures and easy-to-learn rules to ensure that even novice players will be up and running within minutes. With games taking only 30-45 minutes to play, you can squeeze one in while you’re waiting for that Nuln Oil to dry.

Simple rules aren’t always a bad thing. It can help ease new players in without over complicating things too quickly. The Board also has a unique design that suggests there is a ton of replayability here.

The Cultists were part of a previous PVE game (Blackstone Fortress) and now are great models to get other players interested or introduced to the hobby.

Warhammer 40,000: Fireteam

fireteamIf competitive arena combat in the 41st Millennium is more your thing, you’ll be glad to know that Fireteam features all the squad-based, alien-shooting goodness you could ask for.

fireteam boardFeaturing a head-on clash between the Space Marines and Necrons of the Indomitus Crusade, Fireteam is both a perfect first taste of the Warhammer 40,000 universe for newcomers and an exciting new spin on the classic Warhammer gameplay for veterans.

These are all also pretty new models, meaning the sculpts and poses are pretty great. No janky outdated models here. Given, these are meant to entice new players, its great that they chose some of the newest models.

Plus that looks like SILVER Necron model casts, to offset the BLUE Primaris Intercessors!  From the looks of it, the styling of the cards and wound markers are all KILL TEAM flavored which is pretty cool!

fireteam modelsNot to mention, this box might be a decent jumping point to go into Kill Team if it tickles the player fancy. This is of course another simple stone before going all in to 40k meaning the player can really take their time before investing all the effort to make a full army.

With these 3 new GW board games are you going to try to introduce a buddy to Warhammer with them?
