This Airbrush Compressor Actually Works

Ready to get started airbrushing without breaking the bank? Check out the Galaxy, the no-name compressor that is far from generic.

If you are in the market for a good, quality airbrush compressor that doesn’t have a tank, and is also portable for those heavy-duty jobs, look no further than the No-Name Galaxy compressor by Spray Gunner.

Galaxy Compressor

The No Name Galaxy is the little compressor that could. The water regulator and water trap are nicely in place and should be set around 30 if you have a manual air control valve. The braided cord is of pretty decent quality, and it fits in snugly without Teflon tape, which is rare for air compressors.  For Rob, the true test of a decent air compressor versus a lesser quality air compressor is if you need Teflon tape to seal the braided cord to the air control valve.

Remember that with tankless compressors, you probably want to use a coiled cord to help minimize the pulsations of the compressor as much as possible to keep your airflow as constant as possible.

With the regulator set to 30 PSI, the No Name Galaxy compressor is relatively quiet, but still kicks on with an audible compressor noise. With regular airbrush use, it can last you quite awhile each session before it starts to overheat. Plus it has no tank so it is pretty portable to move around the house or even out to the game store.

If you are on a budget for airbrush air compressors and want one that will last as long as your hobby does, the No Name Galaxy air compressor may work out better for you.

Editor’s Note: we also have a review coming soon on the Tooty, a tanked version of the No-Name that may work better for stationary hobbyists. This compressor goes really well with the Ultra Airbrush to get you a fantastic airbrush set-up for around $200.
