Space Marines are here! Get the latest snapshot of some of the weekend’s top Warhammer 40k tournament army lists out there!
Keep in mind that these lists that we picked are ones that used a few units that don’t appear in the meta too often. While a majority of their army uses some of the tried and true meta-bruisers, there were some other units taken that nobody expected. With that said, let’s jump into these armies!

Ultramarines: Allen Marshall-Warchief Annihilator Series RTT
Going into this Ultramarines list, this player opted out of the newly popular Infiltrate Mechanic for regular Intercessors as troops. Beyond that, with Robbie G bringing up the rear in the list, two Librarians were taken instead of any Captains.
For the powerhouse of the list, Dreadnoughts and indirect fire hit the field. Two Redemptors were brought with all of the dakka to help clear screens that got too close. four Las cannons were strapped to the sides of two Contemptors each, and a Storm Cannon Leviathan was the cherry on top. As for indirect firepower, a single Thunderfire Cannon was brought to halve the movement of units it shot at.
Overall, with Robbie G standing in the middle of eight las cannons, twenty storm cannon shots, and a mix of other assault cannon dakka, this list was brutal at-range. Great job coming in 2nd place and bringing an uncommon list!
Chaos: Kenny Boucher- Warchief Annihilator Series RTT
Moving onto Chaos from the same tournament, Kenny brought in some heavy-hitting Knight firepower comboed with three Lord Discos. Starting off, a Battalion of Red Corsairs was filled with Chaos Marines for the bonus CP. Note that one of the squads was decked-out in chain sword making the most of melee against screens and other light armor.
Next, two Despoilers hit the field with one rocking two battle cannons and the other, two avenger gatling cannons. It’s like two Crusaders came together and traded their weapons. To flesh out the Super-Heavy detachment, a cheap Wardog also tagged along.
Finally, using the Vigilus formation, three Lord Discordants were taken in a Supreme Command Detachment and raced up the field being the Chaos version of a Smash Captain. Overall, awesome job going in on the new Knights and pairing them up with some of the scariest characters Chaos has to offer!
Glenn Barnett: Tau- Bourbon Vs. Kai Grant FN Slam RTT
Would you believe that there’s a Tau list out there that doesn’t spam Riptides? While this list still took some of the best stuff from the codex, there are units that we didn’t expect to see! Starting off, a cheap-o Battalion of Kroot and some Fire Warriors was taken for the CP. Next, another Battalion was taken with a Fusion Commander leading the charge.
Nine Shield Drones were also taken and bubble wrapped a squad of Missile-sides. Finally, a Vanguard was taken with almost half of the points dumped into this single detachment. Another Fusion Commander led the Elites with a Riptide and two squads of Hazard suits decked-out with Burst Cannons. Screens didn’t stand a chance against this list and with nine Shield Drones to bear, the army’s suits had a bit of staying power. However, it may not be as resilient as some of the lists with 30+ drones we’ve seen before.
Great job taking a list with some cool units and proving that there are some other great unit options for Tau to pick from.
