40k Fan Favorite Sly Marbo’s Datasheet Has Finally Arrived

Sly Marbo Art

Sly Marbo is one of the biggest fan favorites in the history of 40k. Well, he now has his own rules for Warhammer 40k!

Games Workshop just released the Datasheet for Sly Marbo and and nicely converted Catachan Jungle Fighter. Let’s see what they had to say about it on Warhammer Community.Sly Marbo Conversion 1

The original Sly Marbo model is no longer available, but the plastic Catachan Jungle Fighters kits do have enough parts to make him, as you can see demonstrated here. This model was converted and painted by one of our talented Hobby team members.

And because you all asked so nicely, here are some rules to use him in games of Warhammer 40,000.

Sly Marbo Conversion

From the looks of this, we’re talking 7th Edition 40k here, but hey you never know – he could be in 8th Edition as well soon!

Sly Marbo is coming in strong with some great looking abilities. Gone is his demo changer but his He’s Behind You simply says Marbo always deploys in Reserve, and when he arrives to the battlefield you can place him anywhere more than 1″ away from an enemy model. Like a Shadow is another ability with some interesting features. After Marbo destroys an enemy unit with a Sweeping Advance, Consolidates, or successfully pulls off a Hit & Run, you can remove him from the battlefield and put him into the Ongoing Reserves. Mark the spot he left with a small marker, and when he arrives back to the battlefield from Ongoing Reserves, he can be set up anywhere within 18″ of the marker, no closer than 1″ of an enemy unit.

Sly Marbo is a Loner, to be expected, and officers cannot give him orders, nor can he be your Warlord. His sneaky nature makes him a Master of Ambush. Marbo can booby trap 3 pieces of battlefield terrain after your army deploys, Scouts redeploy, and infiltrators deploy, but before the roll to Seize the Initiative. Enemy models treat booby trapped pieces of battlefield terrain as dangerous territory. Just make sure you remember to mark the booby trapped terrain pieces so both you and your opponent remember which ones they were.
