5 Best 40k Tournaments To Attend Ever

While Austin and Max enjoy pretty much all aspects of the hobby, tournaments are by far and large their favorite.

With the year of cancellation we’ve had, the boys scratch their tournament itch by talking about their favorite tournaments in today’sA-Dawg’s Top Dogs.  These are their picks for the 5 best 40k tournaments to attend!

5- Warzone Atlanta

warzone atlantaLet’s start with the obvious: Any event that crowns Val Heffelfinger as its champion is a winning event.

But seriously, Warzone Atlanta is truly a gem, as it’s one of those tournaments that has never been surrounded or tainted with drama, which is quite rare.

Another big plus is that because it’s in Atlanta, it easy and cheaper to attend, with the major airport nearby.

4- The Las Vegas Open

LVO 2021The Las Vegas Open hits all of the boxes when it comes to tournaments: the terrain is great, it is one of the largest (or the largest, now?) in terms of players, and, did we mention it’s held in Vegas?

The LVO has brought many great things to the tournament scene and is kind of the closing ceremony of the ITC season every year, making it a truly great experience for players and spectators alike.

3- NoVA

nova openThe NoVA is one of the premier competitive events out there, with a plethora of events available.

Max (with teammates Kelsey and Ernie ) is the reigning champion of the Team Trios.

Austin has taken part in the last 2 Invitationals, a 32-man tournament that consists of some of the best players from the USA (and the occasional foreigner)

The Open is the more traditional tournament and is really the pioneer of competitive events, with a bracket system that means that whatever happens in the first 4 games, you are still in the runnings to win.

2- ATC

ATC Feature rThe American Championship, where Austin and his team (from which Max has been placed on the B-Team, he writes angrily) are the reigning champions.

The ATC is played in teams of 5 and is one of the best formats you can play, as every game matters, even when you are losing terribly.

This format is growing in popularity and more places are starting to run them, but nothing beats the original.

1-Adepticon

Adepticon FeatureWhat can be said about Adepticon that hasn’t been said already a thousand times?

Both Max and Austin attend every year, and they manage to play in different events, because there are so many to chose from, really, whatever style of game you prefer, you can be sure it’s at Adepticon.

Really, the Team Tournament at Adepticon is unique and the best feature, and it is worth attending even if you only play in this event. It is the pinnacle of hobby and competition (well, some teams are more in one and some teams are more into the other…), but everyone there is having a blast, guaranteed.
