We’re well into October and to keep the Orktober spirit alive, we thought it was time to check out this incredibly themed Warhammer 40k Ork army by GMM.

GMM Studios has been in the business of taking entire armies to a whole different level of quality. From conversions to army displays you’ve got to take a closer look at his past projects. Looking at this old Mad Max themed Ork army, each model in this collection is a work of art.

This entire army has some serious conversions slapped on to make it look like a grimdark Mad Max movie. Even the display board has the classic Mad Max artwork right down to Orkified named characters!

For the display, buggies, looted Trukks, and more clutter a wasteland of trash and desert sand.

Staying true to any Ork army, you’ve got to be able to swarm the board from every inch in green skin and clanking armor. There’s really no better Xenos faction in 40k to fit the bill for a Mad Max army better than the Orks.

Max & Mina Morker

For the Orkified Mad Max himself, GMM replaced the dog with a big and a Grot for the boomerang kid. As for the pig, he’s got sticks of dynamite strapped on his back ready for Max to pull the trigger.

Mina Morker is the Ogor Kingdom’s female maneater model with a swap to give her a “counts as” combi weapon, and some longer hair. In an Ork army, sometimes it’s difficult to tell the women apart from the men. Dwarves have the same problem.

Master Blaster

Built from Warmachine bits and a Forge World Grot, Master Blaster is another head-turning conversion out of the list.

Da Scratch-built Tankers

Moving into the mechanized portion of the showcase, these Orks looted a Trukk and piled onto the back. Even if you weren’t going to use this in a Mad Max army list, it looks like an incredible looted Trukk that any Ork army could use.

With one of the most unique tracked looted vehicles we’ve seen, can you spot any familiar bits on the model? More Boyz and Grots are loaded onto the back waiting for the driver to get within boarding distance of the enemy.

Bringing the hobby to another level of intricacy,  the tank itself on the model is all scratch built. Aside from the wheels, the tanker is PVC pipe with lots of plasticard!

Moving onto the tankbusters, if this tank actually fired it’s round in real life, it would probably kill everyone standing around the end of the barrel. Seriously that thing is huge.

And last but not least, check out this tank posed mid-shot! In true Ork fashion, they’re just shooting a cannonball. Because who needs rifling and accuracy when Orks already have so much dakka!

Da Boyz on Foot

For the footsoldiers, these kits are probably the most converted. Not a single regular Ork kit was bought to make them. These Orks were spliced together from spare bits in a collection. Smaller units that just get shot on the tabletop are easy to overlook. However, devoting hobby time to these guys for conversions really makes the rest of the army stand out leagues above others.

Hopefully, the spirit of Orktober is going strong with all of you in the community! With this showcase in the spotlight, what’s your favorite unit out of the display?
