40k RUMORS: New Plastic Death Korps of Krieg Models

Rumors Death korps of krieg warhammer 40kNew rumors talk about a whole wave of plastic Death Korps of Krieg, but Games Workshop dropped hints at the rework some time ago.

Death Korps of Krieg has long been a Guard staple and favorite, so it would only make sense to see them get the port over to plastic from Forge World Resin.  They released the Kill Team box in 2021, and many people thought that was the start of a new line for them, but over time, that hasn’t been the case… yet.

Death Korps of Kreig Rumors: Release Date Update

Death Korps of Krieg Range Refresh 3According to the rumors, GW did have big plans for them a few years back, as they also dropped artwork with Death Riders and more infantry. Rumor is that it is all still in the works, but it’s just taking a bit longer than most people expected.

Now, it’s looking like we won’t see the new Death Korps of Krieg until Q1 of 2025. So, while we have already seen Advent Engines teasers and heard huge rumors about the new DKoK for years, at this point, we think they are pretty much “confirmed ” to happen at some point.

However, now, according to Valrak, it’s looking to be later than we expected

GW Drops Hints For New Plastic Death Korps of Krieg

Beast Snagga box artWhen GW released the Beast Snagga box in 2021, there was a bunch of DKoK artwork inside. This is the artwork from the inside of the box. We had seen Azog already, but most probably didn’t expect the whole frame showcasing DKoK infantry.

The other piece of art from the 2021 Beast Snaggas Army box is where things get interesting.

Beast Snagga box art 2What is that we see charging into the lines? Oh, hello, Death Riders! As we said before, GW really doesn’t like to put out art for something that’s not going to have a miniature, meaning they could already even have the sculpts ready to go and are waiting to release them! Maybe they already had enough new Imperial Guard stuff with the last codex, and this codex will drop with DKoK miniatures.

If you look at the Orks’ side, they also didn’t put anything random in here, meaning you can literally buy everything you see. So, if you’ve been hoping for a cheaper and plastic DKoK army, this is at least something.

Rogal Dorn Tank

Again, this is just a rumor based on some artwork (and older art at that), so don’t get too excited just yet. However, we saw the same thing hidden in plain sight with the Cadia Stands Army Box. Then, months later, it was revealed the art was for the new Rogal Dorn Tank.

So never, say never, when it comes to a new Warhammer 40k model rumor when we have actual art for it.

RUMORS: Death Korps of Krieg Range Refresh

The rumors below initially were about a brand new regiment coming to the Astra Militarum, but as they get closer, it’s supposedly looking more and more like DKoK may be getting the rework. Considering they already have a giant Forge World line, we’ve already seen the plastic Kill Team box, and there’s even a Rumor Engine that could be for them.

Death Korps of Krieg Range Refresh 4While they might not get everything currently from Forge World in plastic, things are looking good for a big refresh. With the Rough Riders coming back to the Guard in 10th, we would love to see that in plastic along with some of the tanks, the characters, and maybe brand new Heavy Weapons Teams.

They currently have 38 items on Forge World, so there’s plenty to turn into plastic kits, but we also hope there will be some new units too. While the Death Korps used to have more models overall, we don’t really see GW bringing those back any time soon, sadly.

Rumors Engines For Days

Death Korps of Krieg Range Refresh

Obviously, Rumor Engines can be anything, but this could very well be something for them. It has that old-school Imperial Guard look to it and is very reminiscent of the Steel Legion.

Krieg has so many amazing units, like Engineers and Death Riders; this would just be amazing to see! If you think about it, we actually saw a couple of Advent Engines that look awfully Kriegy as well, so perhaps there is something to these rumors!

Death Korps of Krieg In The Advent Engines Too?

Advent Engine Imperial Guard 3

Well, we’re going to say this looks like a banner to us one way or the other, as these symbols look very Imperial! We’ve seen plenty of Death Korps of Krieg rumors and hints in the Advent Engine, so let’s start with the possibility of a banner for them.

Advent Engine Imperial Guard 2While the current banner doesn’t have the little skull in the bottom left, the skull in the shield looks extremely similar. Plus, how would a new Krieg banner not have a little battle damage on it? This model above is still in resin, and we’ve said if they are redoing Krieg, they would have to redo the Command HQ Squad, and it would need a new banner bearer.

Krieg Making a Mine Field?

Advent Engine Death Korps of Krieg 2Well, the minefield part is pretty obvious, as the sign just straight-up says it! However, who would use it? Who are masters of trench warfare in 40k? It all points to Krieg!

Someone even mentioned Sappers for Krieg on the official Facebook page, and GW replied, ” We like your style.” This one seems more obvious than some previous rumors if you ask us.

Advent Engine Death Korps of Krieg 3

They currently have the engineers, but they are in resin. So, we could easily see them rework this kit into less of a mining group and more of actual sappers who put down minefields on the battlefield to protect your units of guard from advancing enemies!

dkok deathriderRob painted up some of the resin Death Riders not too long ago (you can check out the tutorial here), and they have always been awesome minis. We hope with them coming in plastic, they could be a little cheaper and perhaps even more detailed than their nearly 20 year old Forge World Designs!
