Wizkids has released brand new rules and a Thor Expansion for their highly popular Heroclix series. Let’s see what’s new!
The new Heroclix rules from Wizkids will take effect once the Marvel Heroclix: The Mighty Thor expansion launches later this month. The new rules are available now in pdf format on the Wizkids’ Heroclix site. The new rules include a core rule book, quick start guide, comprehensive rule book, and more.
The new rules make it easier for new player to learn how to play Heroclix with new keywords, consistent templating, better phrasing for easier understanding, clarification to remove edge cases, and more instructional play videos are planned. The 2017 Power and Abilities Reference Card is also available online as well. A physical copy of the rules will be included in the Mighty Thor Starter Set.
This rule release is also timed with the beginning of the Sidekick Night Fall 2017 themed event at your FLGS. New players will find it easier to jump into Heroclix and veteran players will be pleased with the changes. All previously released figures are compatible with the new rules.
The Mighty Thor launch will consist of a starter set, dice and token pack, and booster packs. The starter set is a six figure starter set that also comes with the updated rules and powers. Six iconic figures with all-new dials and a brand-new 3D object are in this starter set. It features the Avengers Prime team of Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man, joining together to take on all challengers! Other Avengers allies like Hulk and Hercules can join forces against Thor’s mischievous adoptive brother, Loki!
There is also the return of the Colossal Super Booster Packs which will allow you to expand your sets even further. Such figures like Groot or Surtur can be found in these boosters. You will be able to build new teams with sub-teams such as Asgardians, Masters of Evil, and more. For the first time ever in HeroClix – Asgardians and their enemies will have the Legendary Wielder trait, allowing them to utilize their signature weapons and artifacts. The drawback to that is that if your hero with the artifact falls in battle, your opponent can pick it up!
