ModCube’s 2.0 Kickstarter Coming Soon

ModCube 2.0

Having come a long way since Adepticon a few years ago, ModCube 2.0 looks to improve upon and add new features to the successful game aid!

3DG has been busy since ModCube 1.0 came out and now we can expect to see the ModCube 2.0 Kickstarter come December. If you are unfamiliar with ModCube, it is a 19mm die that comes with replaceable token faces for its sides. Such tokens are used to indicate damage, status effects, movement, and more. They came in handy for such games as Star Wars: X-Wing. The new ModCube 2.0 has streamlined and improved the design even further by making the die slightly smaller (16mm) and making the tokens magnetic for easier placement and removal. Now, a removal tool will be included with the set and is currently being tested. They were planning on using a magnetic tool but it would be too cumbersome. They are going to test if a small suction cup will be effective.

ModCube 2.0 will have token sets for X-Wing, Warhammer 40k, and Malifaux from the start. Many sets that were included with ModCube 1.0 will make it in as stretch goals. Sets for Guildball and Dark Age are currently being considered but may come further down the line. Infinity was another success in the original Kickstarter and 3DG is asking for feedback from players as to what would constitute an Infinity token set as the game is very complex.

IF you want to provide feedback for an Infinity, Dark Age, or any other token, leave a comment on their DakkaDakka forum thread. Be sure to also follow them on Facebook and visit their new site for any future announcements. If you are planning to be at NOVA this week, ModCube 2.0 will be there for a demo. The Kickstarter is schedule to begin in December.
