With the new core set here, AMG has dropped a new free Marvel Crisis Protocol Rulebook download to go along with the new starter.
So, the rules are still free to download online, and there isn’t really anything in the new book that will change the game from what you know and love. They just mainly updated wording to be easier to read, added new artwork, and some measuring tools.
They also updated the affiliation lists and base sizes for the new models (but still no Spidey for Avengers… sorry about that).
AMG Drops the New Marvel Crisis Protocol Rulebook!
These new Marvel Crisis Protocol Rules updates come from Atomic Mass Games.
Today we’ve added a new version of theCore Rules forMarvel: Crisis Protocolto the website. This is the version of the Core Rules found inside the Earth’s Mightiest Core Set! Inside this updated rulebook you will encounter beautiful new art, stunning new photography, and best of all, all the previous clarifications and errata to the previous Core Rules can be found and referenced in one place. Several sections of the book have received wording updates from the original that should make the rules easier to understand and clarify common questions. This rule book features no functional changes to the game you know and love – it only makes all the rules easier to find and understand.
They have been doing references and FAQs for years now, so it’s nice to have everything in one place. It might take some reading to get all the changes, but they aren’t updating any real game fundamentals with this.
Team Tactics Card Updates
The only inclusion in the book that is brand new is the addition of “Active: Action” Team Tactic Cards! These tactic cards are a special subset of Active Team Tactic Cards that can only be played during a character’s activation. The character must spend one of their Actions to use them. We added this for several reasons, but the main one is this delineation will help clarify what Team Tactic Cards that have attacks on them require the character to use an Action to use the attack.
This is the biggest change as you now are forced to use an action when the card is an Active: Action Card. This is probably a good change, as before, it was hard to tell exactly who needed to do what. Other than that, it’s mainly tiny changes, and graphic updates.

Updated Team Affiliation Lists
Nothing too crazy here, but with new characters come new affiliations to try out! The only thing we’re a little surprised about is Spidey still doesn’t have a way to fit into Avengers lists, but hey, it is what it is…
