GW New Years Day Preview: All the Big Reveals & Rumors

gw-preview-40k-may-23From Slaanesh Mortals in AoS to the 7 new models teased- here are the latest rumors and reveals from the GW New Years Day Preview!

It’s time for another online GW Preview for all things Warhammer! Here are the latest reveals from Warhammer Community! Along with some extra context that led up to the reveals.

GW Christmas Day Preview: All the Big Reveals & Rumors

Let’s go over all the latest previews starting with some models that were previously hidden in plain sight.

Hidden In Plain Sight: New Slaanesh Models Incoming

Back during the Decadence and Decay Online Preview, we got a look at the new Sigvald and some of the new Slaanesh Mortals lineup. We covered him and his new friends here if you haven’t seen it.

As it turns out a closer look at the teaser video reveals even more units- hidden in plain sight!

Symbaresh Twinsouls out of focus modelsFirst up the shot with the Symbaresh Twinsouls, shows some out of focus models behind them. These both look like two large beast-men/Slaangors. The left model also has the same black leather leg covering as the new Slakeslash in Direchasm, which we thought it was at first…

slaangor fiendbloodsThis comes from a Warhammer Community article a few weeks ago. While they don’t really go too in-depth they do give out some lore tidbits on each of the included units. So we know that Slaangors are coming. It also sorts of matches up with the fuzzy models from the video still above.

The right model face matches up with the left model and the left face matches up with the right model in the video.

Myrmidesh Painbringers out of focus modelsBack to the Decandance and Decay preview, In the shot of the Painbringers, we see a few more fuzzy models. One of which is the Shardspeaker of Slaanesh who was revealed on the 4th of December, and also apparently a Warcry Model.

Another is the Lord of Pain from the Shadow and Pain boxset.

shardspeaker of slaaneshThis model was revealed officially on the 4th over on Warhammer Community. Which is pretty clearly the model on the right side of the image.

Lord of painThe Left side of the image is the Lord of Pain. This one is also pretty clear, we can see his shoulder plate, his leather boot, and that humungous mace. Check out all our coverage of that box, and the Lord of Pain here.

new slaanesh minotaursHowever, right in the middle is something we haven’t seen, and looks completely brand new. The huge arms and roughly bull shaped heads might mean Slaanesh Minotaurs are on the way. They also seem to potentially be positioned very close together and conveniently on one base.

This can mean a few things.

  • A large Lord of War-style character with Minotaurs on his base? Maybe a minotaur chariot?
  • A new Chaos war shrine-style model? I think it’s the latter, we can’t see the top, and it does look like they may be carrying something.

Either way, tons of Slaanesh in on the way for both Warcry, and by proxy Age of Sigmar! There’s a mix of models already out, brand new releases, coming very soon, and perhaps unannounced unknown models still.

Hidden In Plain Sight: Two More Slaanesh Model Sightings

hedonites of slaanesh battletomeOn Christmas day, GW put out a special preview that we covered here in case you missed it. One of the reveals was the confirmation of the Slaanesh AoS Battletome. We get a very clear view of the cover, which seems to have some models hidden in plain sight! Can you spot them?

plain sight slaanesh What we originally spotted in the Sigvald Video seems to be on the cover! While those are almost certainly daemons and not minotaurs it does look to be a war shrine or dais-like model. While we know nothing about it we can see the size of it. Also, an important note is what’s on top and in the tent. There’s a large character seated, (most likely the leader) and what seems to be two or three other characters (perhaps attendants?).

Is that dais the model that was out of focus in this shot:

new slaanesh minotaursLonghorns? Check! Hulking Brutes? Mostly check. But that is about all we can see from this image, unfortunately.

Seeing how prominent it is on the cover, and with Sigvald nowhere to be found (on the cover), it might just be a very important character for the newly updated army. However, this model isn’t the only possible new find…

plain sight slaanesh 2Zooming in even further we can see two interesting figures. While this is much rockier, there are two unique figures in the furthest reach of the background image. These two hulking beasts/daemons might just be the new warcry Slaangors, but the main thing making that less likely is the lack of color/armor on these two. They also look massive. They are pretty far back and are still huge, so they actually might be minotaurs!

They could also just be there purely for creative reasons and may not be a model at all…

GW Reveals New Glutos Orscollion, Lord of Gluttony For AoS

slaanech chariotGuided by the daemon Loth’shar, Glutos Orscollion seeks to sample the most exotic tastes in all the Mortal Realms – irrespective of how unseemly the source.

There it is! Well, we definitely were right about this model. It is clearly a Slaanesh chariot. It does however look much shorter than in the artwork and even in the blurry video shot.

All things considered, it is definitely extravagant.

slaanesh chariot sideLooking at the side view, we can clearly see the statue from day 4 of the advent rumor engines. It’s hard to nail down an exact size without seeing any models next to it. It looks most likely to be on a chariot base, or perhaps if it is very large a 40k knight base.

slaanesh chariot modelsThe Lord of Gluttony is a gifted sorcerer, whose loathsome magics can unmake any who would seek to deny him his bounty of flesh to devour. Riding atop an opulent palanquin borne aloft by a pack of grotesque mutants, Glutos is surrounded by a devoted court of servants who cater to his every decadent whim.

When peaking at the characters that surround the model, we can see multiple distinct ones. The first is a heavily armored character who appears to be very similar to the Painbringers. The second model looks like nothing more than the person in charge of directing the chariot. the final character looks to be very ritualistic. Almost having a cauldron of blood vibe, she may hint at more Slaanesh troops on the way.

7 New Model Releases Teased For Warhammer 40k & More

Within the video above, there are over 7, possibly 8, new models. We don’t get a full look at any of the models, however, we do get glimpses! Let’s look at each of them.

titanicus model

The first set of images are of what appears to be a knight, but with the supporting images, it’s probably a Titanicus model with at least one large plasma weapon in its right hand.

The top deck with shoulder cannon armor plates also adds the idea it may be a Nemesis class titan, but just what if its actually a dreaded Imperator… that would be something!

The next shot of the titan is of one of the weapons, two giant barrels on plasma. It’s hard to make out if this is a different weapon than that of the first shot, but it may just be dual plasma weapons for both arms.

The next model you may recognize from a teaser earlier in 2020. It’s interesting that they chose to use it again, and even the exact same shots.

Of course, the model is very clearly an Adeptus Mechanicus model, however, there aren’t any details that offer a scale or other ideas.

The next model looks like a Lumineth character standing on top of a cloud.

A different angle shows off the stance and the mace the character is holding. The cloud also has a unique parallel to the flying nimbus seen in Dragonball, Chinese Mythology, and more. Is the cloud moving like a mount, or is it still serving as a platform?

Lumineth was lucky enough to get 2 models shown off. The second model looks like a new cavalry model. The animal seems especially furry, maybe something similar to a llama, or maybe a Chocobo!

The other side doesn’t add anything, but is in a better light, so it’s easier to see some of the details.

The shot is a new character that originally was shown in the Rumor Engine Advent Callendar on day 16. Now with the body added, we see large wooden spikes, heavily illuding that this character is a form of vampire or beast hunter. It is very likely going to be a new AoS model.

As the model turns, we can see a huge haft of a polearm or sheath for a large weapon.

This shield is very detailed, however, it’s hard to really get anything about the model other than it is wearing a red cloak.

The next shot is of a tattered cloak, which coincidently is also red. However, it’s hard to tell if the shield was a part of this model or a different one entirely.

Finishing up the model we see it is a new Orc model for what is assumed to be AoS. There is a clear long white beard, which you may know is very odd/unique for Orcs. This is most likely a new named character coming to Orcs/Orruks in AoS, potentially with a much-needed update.

Are you excited about any of these models? Do you have any ideas about what they might be? Do you like the Lord of Gluttony model?
