Show Me Showdown: Top Warhammer 40k Homebrew Army List

40k-homebrew-army-listsImperial Knights still hold their own in competitive play as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list emerged at the Show Me Showdown!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players take lists with units that nobody expected. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were all there ourselves. You can check out the event details here.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists, instead, we will be looking at just one of our favorites this week.

Show Me Showdown: Broc Bowman – Imperial Knights 5th Place

Broc Bowman 1

Broc’s top 8 Knights did fairly well and went all in on knights in a single Super Heavy Detachment. For starters, there is a Knight Crusader which he calls “The Green Knight”. This knight is running Gatling and Thermal, along with a Flamer and Stubber. This loadout offers a wide range of shots from the chaff to armor and everything in between forming a ranged threat that can shoot at anything that moves effectively.

The second knight is a Paladin that he calls “The Hermit Knight of Malmont Mountain”. This knight has 2 stubbers, a Battle Cannon, and a Chainsword. This simpler loadout features a decent amount of shots and greater flexibility thanks to the chain sword allowing for decent melee damage if need be. The Paladin also helps buff up nearby Armigers, which as we will soon see there are a few in this list.

Broc Bowman 2

Closing out the list is the “mini-knights” counting a total of 6 Warglaive Armigers and 1 Helverin. The Warglaives all running Spear and Cleaver, making for fast models that can shoot at armor and chop at everything else. The Helverin forgoes the cleaver for extra ranged power, making it just one more ranged threat that trades off durability for extra mobility thanks to its smaller frame.
