No concrete images have emerged just yet but the United States may be about to employ a new type of fighter jet into their arsenal. Defense news announced that the Air Force has officially designed, tested, and flown a new combat aircraft all over the period of one year.

“We’ve already built and flown a full-scale flight demonstrator in the real world, and we broke records in doing it,” Will Roper told Defense News in an exclusive interview ahead of the Air Force Association’s Air, Space and Cyber Conference. “We are ready to go and build the next-generation aircraft in a way that has never happened before.”

Given a rough schedule, it looks like it could be in full employment within a five-year span. So let’s look at what was “teased”.

This short little gem of a video was released a few years back showing some aircraft that looks to be an evolved fighter form of a B2 Stealth Bomber. Granted, all of this was CGI so it’s not a hard look at this new aircraft, but it seems like Northrop Grumman could be getting ready for a big reveal.

Especially with a scene like this:

The Aviationist has also been on top of the potential to see a new jet as it looks like there have been multiple Easter eggs dropped over the years, and a few in just the last week!

The Air Force just celebrated its 73rd birthday earlier this month and posted up this graphic. At first glance, you might just think this is the Air Force just putting out a simple picture. But look at the aircraft dead center. It looks pretty close to the one spotted in the Northrop Grumman video from above!

But that wasn’t the only image either. Another 73rd Air Force birthday logo hit the web showing a similar type of aircraft silhouette. It all seems like there are some carefully placed easter eggs that are teasing the new shape of this modern fighter according to the Aviationist in their Twitter post from Sept 18th above.

Nothing has been blatantly confirmed but it seems like there’s some serious foreshadowing going on! It’s only a matter of time before we see if the new jet is legit or not.

What kind of records do you think a new 2020 fighter jet will break compared to older models? Will it be harder to detect (like the B2) given its similar shape?
