Top 40k Homebrew Army List: Battle For Salvation GT

40k-homebrew-army-listsThousand Sons score a spot behind the best armies as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list emerged at the Battle For Salvation GT!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players take lists with units that nobody expected. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This shows us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were all there ourselves. Check out the details here.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists. Instead, we will look at just one of our favorites this week.

Battle For Salvation GT: Frank Dalykas – Thousand Sons 6th Place

Frank Dalykas 1

Frank did fairly well with a fluffy Thousand Sons list, containing all of the iconic models on the tabletop (except Magnus).

Starting off, he went for a battalion led by Ahriman, who is one of the best Psykers in the game, an Exalted Sorcerer, who, while not as good as Ahriman, is still very strong, and an Infernal Master, who provides extra support in the form of Pacts.

Troops start with 15 Rubric Marines, who are more expensive and durable than most factions’ frontlines. Think of something similar to Plague Marines or even Custodians.

Troops also have 20 Tzaangors which are notably much more fragile but also cheaper and can still do some damage in melee.

Elites start off with a Leviathan Dreadnought bringing some fantastic ranged firepower to help with armored threats, followed by 15 Scarab Occult Terminators, who are extremely durable threats that have fantastic heavy weapons in the form of 3 Soulreaper Cannons. Then there is a Tzaangor Shaman for a touch of extra psychic prowess, which you can never have too much of in Thousand Sons.

Finally, closing out the list are 3 Chaos Spawn to soak some wounds and round out points. They also add a hint of Daemons, which are perfectly fluffy for Thousand Sons.
