Warhammer Legends Units You’ve Never Heard of

Warhammer 40k legends units gone rules pdfThe Land Raider Excelsior got thrown into Warhammer Legends, but chances are you’ve never even heard of it. Check it out!

If you haven’t heard, the Land Raider Excelsior, along with a ton of other 40k units, just found their final resting place in Warhammer Legends.

While some widely popular units were thrown into the listing like Bikes, one of the most obscure units to make the list was the Land Raider Excelsior. If you’ve never heard of this las cannoned behemoth, check this out!

Land Raiders are a healthy backbone unit to Space Marines in normally, casual play. at T8, 16 wounds, and a 2+ Sv. it may stick around a while. But the lack of an invuln and points-cost is where Land Raiders usually hurt. But did you know that the Imperium has some alternate models above and beyond the Crusader and stock land raider kit that you may have never seen played?

Land Raider Excelsior

This puppy comes with two dual Las cannons and a Grav cannon with Grav amp for weapons. But besides that, it’s got the exact same stat line as a normal Land Raider.

The rules are what really makes it different. It has Rites of Battle which lets everyone within 6″ reroll hit rolls of 1. (Same as the Captain’s ability, except the Land Raider has a bigger footprint, which really makes this thing almost a 12″ bubble).

It also had the Data Augurs rule that lets it add 1 to the hit rolls if it’s within 24″ of a Rhino Primaris. This basically turns into a nasty T8 captain that you can run down the field with everyone else in your army while the Rhino Primaris sits in the back…probably on an objective somewhere

The great thing that really sets this unit over the competitive hump is that it has an invulnerable save! Keep in mind, we aren’t saying Land Raiders are high-speed, low-drag, but this might be the best option out there if you had to take one. With a 2+ Sv, most las cannons are gonna push it to a 5+ armor save anyway. There is some -4 and -5 AP are out there but it’s very rare.

All in all, if you were curious about what in the world a Land Raider Excelsior was, now you’ve seen it. And you’ll be able to find it in Warhammer Legends until the end of time.
