The Arks of Omen: Vashtorr book is here along with the new Azrael and Vashtorr Warhammer 40k Rules datasheets and more!

It’s been a while since we saw the box set at the LVO preview, and now GW has promised the next Arks of Omen book with rules by the end of the month! If you haven’t been following along with the Arks of Omen stuff, this will be the third book in the series.

While the Arks of Omen generally have more rules for boarding actions, they always have some 40k rules. However, Games Workshop assured us that there would be no extra matched play rules in these books, so it looks like they are keeping their word with a free download for both sets of character rules.

Regardless, these two characters have been pretty anticipated, so hopefully, the rules are really interesting.

Azrael & Vashtorr Rules New Warhammer 40k Rules

According to Warhammer Community new rules previews are right around the corner!

Arks of Omen: Vashtorr is coming to pre-orders later this month, so join us next week as we delve further into the book with datasheet downloads for Vashtorr and Grand Master Azrael.

Well, let’s start with the timeline. So, if the book is coming this month, most likely, the book will (likely) go on pre-order on March 18th and drop to shelves the next week, which also happens to be AdeptiCon.

Each mission in the series has a special Campaign Outcome rule that grants bonuses for later missions. For instance, Find the Signal Data tasks the Chaos player with hunting down the Rock’s location – the sooner they manage their task, the fewer Command Points the Imperium player will have in the later Drastic Defence mission.

On top of that, the book will also further the narrative towards the fall of The Rock, which might also be one of the events that get us the Lion before 10th edition! Let’s take a look at the new box on the way with the actual models and some rules rumors.

Wrath of the Soul Forge King Box Set

From the looks of it, this new box will come with Azrael, Dark Angels Deathwing Terminators, and one ten-man squad of Primaris Space Marines!

They didn’t give us a ton of info on this one, but we do know both Vashtor and Azrael will be inside! So, if you want either of the new models, this will be the earliest way for you to grab either of them.

The other half of the Wrath of the Soul Forge King box set looks to be the Obliterator and Venomcrawler Warpforged kit that was recently offered for $70 from the 2019 Shadowspear box, a squad of the new cultists and Vashtor himself.

This photato quality image is making the rounds on Facebook and Reddit, as well as forums like the B&C already.

So again, while there is a chance this is fake, the picture at the bottom is very compelling. Plus, the page number could match up with the actual Arks of men book.

It’s hard to say one hundred percent, but either way, it’s fun to look at.

Now, let’s compare it with the current datasheet for Azrael:

Changes From Firstborn Azrael to Primaris:

+1 wound
+1 attack
Sword of Secrets gets +1 strength and extra damage.

So, not too many changes, but with more strength, attacks, and damage, he should be a little more destructive than before, and an extra wound never hurt anyone!

He also obviously has the Primaris keyword now.

GW Reveals 40k Vashtorr Rules, Army of Renown, & Datasheet!

Here are the latest rules from Games Workshop.

With 14 wounds, 7 Strength, 7 attacks, 7 Toughness, and he takes one less damage from every attack he should be quite imposing on the tabletop! He also really buffs up your own vehicles, which makes sense!

The Soul Forge King hits with a force that befits his status as an unaligned demigod of (ordered) Chaos. With a native 7 Strength and 7 Attacks, he can hand out some serious hurt with his hammer. In particular, it can pummel enemy vehicles into literal dust…

With this buffing his Strength up to 14 and D3, he will dish out all kinds of damage. Against vehicles though, any 5+ just does 4 mortal wounds!

His special rules, meanwhile, let him cripple enemy units from afar, invading and confounding their tech and riling the machine spirits of vehicles that dare stand in his way.

Halving the range of weapons is nice, considering it always goes off. Then, halving moves and attacks is also just wild, especially against something like a melee-focused vehicle!

Now, let’s check out the Regiment of Renown!

The restrictions really aren’t that bad, as you just can’t have named CSM marines, but you also lose all ability to get legion-specific special rules. Then, it buffs up all your Daemon Engines and gives you some decent special rules, and exciting stratagems.

The relics are also cool as they all really buff up your Deamon Engines!

Foul Alterations stratagem can allow a Greater Brass Scorpion to advance, shoot, and charge in the same turn – a potent mix for such a powerful beast!

This is really great for 1 CP and can just let you cover all kinds of ground and then charge!

Forge Surge is great for 1 CP as it just gives you full shots of everything. Then, Master’s Guidance gives you a ton of rerolls Cakospark Prattle is just a really effective stratagem for only 1 CP.
