RUMORS: Heavy Intercessors Cost More That We Thought

By Rob Baer | February 24th, 2021 | Categories: 40k News & Articles, News & Rumors, Space Marines

It’s starting to look like the new Space Marines Heavy Intercessors and Necron Flayed Ones may cost way more than we may have thought.

We’ve heard from an industry insider on the Heavy Intercessors/ Flayed One retail pricing, and it may not be what a lot of people were hoping.

Like many hobbyists, we assumed (yes, we know what that makes all of us…) that they would be priced similarly to other Intercessors. But, if our source is even close to correct, they will come in more like the price of Chaos Space Marine Havocs. This is one we want to be wrong on, but from what we’ve heard, it’s hard to think otherwise.

So, what pricing have we heard? $55 for the five. We originally, like a lot of people, thought that they would come in around the $35 mark. If true, that is quite the increase, about 63%, from what we all may have thought.

This would really be a game-changer because first off, they’ve already hidden the box behind the Kill Team paywall.  So on top of being “more expensive” to get in the first place, when they do come out separately, you’ll still have to shell out some serious cash for just 5 minis.

Chaos players will tell you that their Havocs run the same price, have probably about the same amount of bits, and that price is in line with other similar units for their range.

Clues From Flayed Ones

necron flayed ones

There are a few clues to the pricing of  Kill Team Pariah Nexus that can perhaps be gleaned from the Necron Flayed Ones. Currently, they are $45 for their Finecast versions- yes Finecast, and yes $45 for models from nearly 10 years ago.

So in theory, if both sides of this box set were to be balanced, the Flayed Ones and Heavy Intercessors should be both about the same in-game, and potentially at the register as well.

Adjusting for GW inflation, and comparing them to things like the Havocs seems to lend some credibility to this pricing rumor (again this is a rumor and while it seems likely in this context, it is at the end of the day, still just unproven fact).

Would you still get them at this price? Do you think this is accurate?
