Imperial Armor Astartes Post

We have our hands on the new Imperial Armor Index for the Adeptus Astartes Forces and here are a few of the top five rules that you need to know.

The Imperial Armor Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes is an 80-page resource with over 70 datasheets. The sections are decently organized and even contain rules for Imperial Armor Character profiles. These characters didn’t get any love in the past but 8th Edition is making sure that they do.  Be sure to check out our First Look video below for the full break down of the top five rules that you need to know. This review is focused on your normal scale 8th Edition games that you will encounter and not the extreme point games. Here is a sample of our review.

Adeptus Astartes Contents

The Relic Falchion Super Heavy Tank Destroyer is beast, clocking in at 817 points as is with twin heavy bolters, twin quad lascannons, twin volcano cannons, and its crushing tracks. It can hit 3+ and can only explode if rolling a 6. The quad lascannons can be swapped out for the laser destroyer which does have the added benefit of, after successfully dealing damage, roll a D6. An additional D6 damage die is added if the result is 3-5. If you roll a 6, 2D6 are added to the base damage making it 3D6 total.

The Fire Raptor, as man have pointed out, that is does not have the auto cannon option but a twin lascannon option instead. Whether it is a typo or not is unclear. It does have the option to carry two twin hellstrike missile launchers which do decent damage. However, it will be wounding Toughness 8 enemies on 4+ instead of a 3+. This Fire Raptor clocks in at 400 points on the nose with the twin quad heavy bolter, twin avenger bolt cannon, and the twin hellstrike launchers configuration. It only costs four points more to switch in the twin lascannons.
