To be honest many of you have probably already heard of KR Multicase, but it seems like most people may be confused by it’s obviously different take on foam figure storage.
Well KR Multicase is different, and sometimes different is good.
KR bases their storage cases on the simple principle of redundant structural reinforcement.
Figures are placed into super soft foam (that doesn’t scrape paint or break figures as they move about during transport), which is then inserted inside a hard dense card case that forms the strength of the system.
These card cases can then be placed into a variety of bags, also offered by KR, that act as both a sensible mode of transportation and additional structural support for the storage system altogether.
You see the true beauty of this system is that you can store all of your armies separately in these dense card cases (horizontally or vertically I might add), and then transport whatever case(s) you may need for the day via any of the KR bags or backpacks that you own.
So just one bag could transport any one of the armies you own! Which saves you a ton of cash to spend on other things… like more miniatures!
Best of all, they have hundreds of tray sets to choose from! Obviously as a retailer we can’t carry all of them, but we do have a great selection of the top selling tray sets and cases available for sale in our webstore(which saves a bit from ordering from England).
I really do believe in these cases, as the design and execution is flawless. The level of protection offered at such a low price point compared to other cases (which you have to buy needless multiples of) speaks for itself.
And for those of you who have ever seen what happens when you leave a figure case on top of a car and drive away, don’t fear the reaper. KR has you covered there too.
We’re now pre-selling our first shipment of KR Multicases, which should be here sometime in April. Checkout our KR Multicase Section for more details. -May the dice be with you MBG
The KR system is based around the philosophy of “soft foam for figures, hard cases for soft foam”. Other transport systems for miniature figures use hard foam and hard tray bases as they use a soft bag system and need the trays to strong enough to stack in tall piles, and additionally require that the trays are always horizontal as the figures need to have space between them and the hard base of the tray above.
The hard foam and tray base is not good for figure protection, hence we designed a system where the figures are protected in soft foam. This soft high tensile foam cares much better for your figures as it does not damage the paint finish, and you can fit a larger figure in a smaller compartment as the foam has enough natural flexibility to deform around the figure and support it. This means that the case can be carried or stored in any orientation (flat, side on, even upside down!) because the tray bases in KR trays are the same foam as the tray itself, so your figures have full protection.
This enabled us to design a hard case system so that the trays would be supported, and this in turn created the unique and versatile KR system of interchangeable card cases within a transport bag. All the cases in the KR range are based on our standard size case, we call that 1 KRU (KR Unit), which can carry up to 200 28mm troops or a combination or troops and vehicles etc. All the KR cases are combinations of this standard size of case, for example the double aluminium carries the contents of 2 , the triple 3 and so on. Likewise the Kaiser transport bag system carries multiples of the card cases, the Kaiser2 carrying two of them, the Kaiser3 three of them and so on. Similarly the Backpack1 carries one card case, and the Backpack2, two card cases.
The card cases are interchangeable with each other. You can have a stack of card cases keeping your figures safe, and just take the army you need in the Kaiser or Backpack when going out.
Which trays suit me best?
There are 2 main tray categories – Core or Custom. The core trays are a combination of pre-cut troop trays or precut segmented pick&pluck trays. Combinations of these trays form a versatile solution to carrying varying collections of vehicles and troops. The custom trays are cut for specific figures and vehicles and are the perfect option for many armies.
