The interwebs is reporting new plastic “thrope” kits are on the way for Tyranids. I’m not sure if they will be released the same week as the rumored Campaign set or not, but hey new models are always good.

The box kit for tyranids coming out next weekend is a Venomthrope-Zoanthrope dual kit that will come with 3 models. The exciting part is that there is a new zoanthrope character upgrade called a Neurothrope, which very much sounds like the old Doom of Malanti. it comes with a spirit leech -warp charge 1, that targets an enemy unit within 18″. Leadership check on 3d6 or suffer a wound by each point the test was failed with no armour or cover saves. Each wound also adds 1 to your dice pool for Warp Blasts.

And from BoLS;

So that would give us the following bugs for the three weeks of Tyranid Wave 2:

Week 1
Maleceptor,Toxicrene

Week 2
Tyrannocyte, Sporocyst, Mucolid Spore Cluster

Week 3
Zoanthrope, Venomthrope, Neurothrope (renamed Doom)
Blast From the Past…
A lot of that sounded familiar and so we did some digging on old Tyranid rumors from late 2013! A bunch of these got reported but never showed up with the February Codex so folks thought it was a bunch of hoaxsters.  But take a look at these and see what you think.  It instead looks like several of those early rumors were describing Wave 2, and we just didn’t know it at the time…
From August 2013

– New “BIG BUG” – Larger than Tervigon sized HQ unit. Oval base, hunched over, but wider.
– Mycetic Spore is coming with the new Tyranid release
– Plastic combo-kit that makes the Spore and another large bug.
– Plastic Zoanthrope combo kits – makes 3 models.

~ And now the Blood Angels get their turn…
