The New White Scars Combo You Didn’t See Coming?

knowledge bomb

Checkout this amazing combo that the new White Scars from the Kauyon book can pull off. Everyone seems to have missed this Space Marine power bomb!

The sons of the Great Khan are here, and along with a new detachment they also have some really kick ass new wargear items as well.

The First piece of this combo involves the Librarius Conclave, which the White Scars have access to (above). The next part of the combo involves one of their new relics, and probably not the one you that you think.

Remember that Goatboy article yesterday on BoLS that slammed the Mantle of the Stormseer?

Hey we made a librarian related relic?  But it doesn’t like let me reroll my powers, reroll deny the witch, or give me something else cool?  Oh I get another spell from Telekinesis?  Wait there is a psychic discipline called Telekinesis?  Does it summon stuff?  No… Is the item free?  No… wait it doesn’t effect my Psychic Focus powers?  Its how many points?  Oh I get Admantium Will?  Meh… Next!

Sorry Thomas, but for me the Mantle of the Stormseer is the most underrated of the new relics, but quite possibly the most powerful!Let’s take a closer look at this puppy and break it down a bit more.

Mantle of the Stormseer 20 points

The ancient psychic hood known as the Mantle of the Stormseer crackles with barely contained elemental energies. None know who crafted this relic, but it is gifted to whichever Librarian demonstrates the greatest skill at communing with the spirits of the storm. Said to channel these entities, the mantle not only wreathes its wearer in a shroud of counter-psychic force, but allows him to wield the wrath of the storm itself. At such times the Stormseer’s eyes glow with a harsh light, and corposant crawls across his armour as the enemy are plucked from the ground and hurled to their deaths by howling psychic gales.

Librarian only. A model equipped with the Mantle of the Stormseer has the Adamantium Will special rule and knows the Psychic Maelstrom power from the Telekinesis discipline in addition to any others he knows. This is not considered when determining if he has Psychic Focus.

Yes it does give you Admantium Will, which is nice fore sure, but it’s been my experience to never quickly dismiss anything on the Psychic chart that comes with a power for free (Fist bump to my man Stern for all throwing my models Sanctuary)!

The Mantle’s ability to give your Librarian, and thusly multiple librarians via a conclave, Psychic Maelstrom is a pretty potent trick. You see, that power is a 12″ Strength 10 AP1 BARRAGE Large Blast shot. Sure it has a short range, but that’s really noting a storm rider is worried about when they’re born in the saddle are they?

But wait THERE’s MORE!

Remember that one relic everyone did go nuts about, the Hunter’s Eye?

The Hunter’s Eye 20 points

The tribes of Chogoris are famed throughout the Imperium for the consummate skill of their horse archers. It is written in the Scrolls of the Plains that the Hunter’s Eye – an ingeniously constructed bionic eye of great age and unrivalled quality – was created in honour of this aspect of the White Scars’ heritage. This device picks out augur-assessed weak spots in the quarry’s defenses, enabling its wearer to strike with uncanny accuracy, or to relay this information via dataghost to any other friendly forces engaging the target.

A model equipped with the Hunter’s Eye adds one to his Ballistic Skill and all his ranged weapons have the Ignores Cover special rule. Whilst a model equipped with the Hunter’s Eye is part of a unit, all other ranged weapons carried by models in that unit also have the Ignores Cover special rule.

Now splash in the Hunters Eye relic in the same squad and not only can you keep your libbys safer by adding a tank, but you can be dropping multiple S10 Ap1 barrages on your opponent that now ignore cover.

Hold on let me say that louder:

You can be dropping multiple S10 Ap1 barrages on your opponent that now ignore cover.

Bye, Bye, Bad Guy!

And don’t forget those Warp Charge 3 Spells will probably cost you far less to cast when you’re conclaved up, and flush with warp charges!
