Games Workshop just dropped a bomb like clarification on Facebook about the “real” release date of Book VII: Inferno from Forge World!

Our long time contributor Scanner sent in this image from the newest White Dwarf last week which stated that the new Book VII would be coming out in December contrary to what Forge World was saying at their events in November.

However, it appears due to the vagarities of the warp (but mostly the 3 months in advance it takes to make the White Dwarf) GW had moved back the date.

So what does that mean for everyone waiting for this highly anticipated release? Well chances are now it may be January or perhaps February at the Weekender until it drops (making it one year since they teased it in the first place).

From this correction it appears that GW has made some “option select” moves by changing up their release schedule for the holiday season much closer to the actual release date themselves. Now if you think about that, it really does seem to suggest that GW has adopted a “just in time” fulfillment process for their manufacturing that had been rumored for some time since their new CEO took over in 2014.

We have even seen from the White Dwarf previews that they always leave out the last two weeks of the month as well, either because of the 3 month print gap, or perhaps to leave themselves an out if they need to call an audible in the huddle as well.

And let’s not forget the subject of this article either: Inferno. Like I said on the podcast last week, I believe GW had this whole Warzone Fenris series with the combo Burning of Prospero core set release planned from day one.

Otherwise why wouldn’t they name book VII something like Prospero Burns, Burning of Prosper or keeping with the previous one word titles; Vengeance or even Burning?

Either way its good to see Games Workshop making long term plans, and being flexible enough to change them to fit their business needs as well.

Bravo GW, Bravo!
