Games Workshop just dropped the Final Draft FAQ’s for every Codex in the 40k universe. Come take a look at what you need to know about your armies!
Some Items of Note:
- These are not the same FAQ’s that are listed on the Errata website. As of this writing, the Errata site has yet to be updated.
- Furthermore, on these new Final Draft FAQs there is no date of publish.
Great news gamers: the finalised official FAQs for every one of our Warhammer 40,000 codexes have just been released.
These Frequently Asked Questions cover a huge range of the most common queries or rules ambiguities, and we hope they are a great help in your games.
These FAQs have been approached in a new way that has taken a little longer than some of our previous FAQs, but we’ve tried to keep the process transparent and make sure that you gamers out there were involved every step of the way (which can be a tricky because there are tens of thousands of you!).
Is all right with the 40k Universe once again?
Last year, we asked you on our Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page what questions you had about the rules and the game. We got literally thousands of questions, everything from common misconceptions, to some really insightful thoughts about interactions with some of the more complex and obscure rules of the game.
Our rules team worked tirelessly (alongside their day job of making new codexes and games) to answer as many of the questions as they could, before we released draft versions of the FAQs for you guys to give feedback on. We got a big response again, with a load more questions, some more clarification needed, and a few changes to make.
Finally, after the final amends were put in, we worked with the teams from some of the biggest independant Warhammer 40,000 events out there to make sure the answers were good to go – so a big thanks to both the AdeptiCon Tournament team, and the guys from the Las Vegas Open for their contributions.
And now, here we are!
Your questions, answered by our rules team, checked by you, and double checked by the people out there with the most experience of the Warhammer 40,000 tournament scene.
Enjoy!
Here’s a couple examples of some of the changes you can expect to see.
Chaos Daemons:
Q: How does the Daemon of Tzeentch rule work in the Psychic phase?
A: As Daemons of Tzeentch gain +3 Leadership while manifesting psychic powers, they are more resistant to many effects should they suffer Perils of the Warp.
This is going to be an important FAQ to check out, especially with all of the new Tzeentch characters coming out. There is a ton of new information in this Codex you’ll probably want to take a look at.
Genestealer Cults:
Q: Can a unit Return to the Shadows after Regrouping, or having Gone to Ground?
A: No, once a unit regroups it cannot move. Only units that have the option to move have the option to Return to the Shadows.
Genestealers Cult is going to be another one to take a look at and familiarize yourself with some of the FAQ’s, seeing that they’re ALL new!
Grey Knights:
Q: Does a Grey Knight unit from a Nemesis Strike Force riding in a Drop Pod from another Detachment get to use the Rites of Teleportation Command Benefit to roll for Reserves on turn one?
A: You can’t start the game embarked in allied Transport vehicles.
There is a ton of new information for every Codex. Be sure to head over to Games Workshop Community and check out the latest Codex for your army.
Pro Tip: Stay Stealth!
