Chaos Space Marines Rules & Datasheets Spotted

Chaos MarineChaos is back with awesome new rules for 8th Edition. This time we’re seeing the Chaos Space Marines rules, and yes, that includes Abaddon!

Imgur held a nice surprise this morning with a big rules leak for the Chaos Space Marines in 8th edition.

Abaddon the Despoiler

Abaddon The Despoiler 8th Rules

Abaddon is coming in with 7 Wounds, Toughness 5, a 2+ save, and has a Dark Destiny which gives him a 4+ Invulnerable Save and all damage he takes gets halved then rounded up. That was his defense, now let’s take a look at his attacks.

He’s Strength 4 with a WS/BS 2+, he’s going to be landing a lot of wounds on his 6 attacks. It’s cut off on the left where it shows the names of the attacks, but that doesn’t stop us from seeing their rules. The first one is a shooting attack, Rapid Fire 2, Strength 4, AP -1, and does D3 damage, not bad for a shooting attack.

The next attack is going to be a melee attack that gives +1 Strength, AP -3, does D3 damage, and has a special ability that gives you adittional attacks on a 2+ for whatever you roll, but if you roll a 1 you’re taking a mortal wound instead.

The third and final attack is Strength x2, AP -3, and does D3 damage. Abaddon is going to be coming out of the gates putting a hurting on his foes.

Renegade Knight

Renegade Knight 8th Rules

The Renegade Knights is coming out just as strong as you would expect. It has a whopping 24 Wounds, 3+ Save, with a 3+ Invulnerable Save against shooting attacks, Strength 8, Toughness 8, and Leadership 9.

When it is reduced down to 0 wounds left roll a D6 before removing it on a (?) it explodes, and each unit with 2D6″ suffers D6 mortal wounds. You have 12 different weapon options for the Renegade Knight, and it can still shoot while Falling Back in the movement phase.

Helldrake & Land Raider

Helldrake Land Raider 8th Rules

The Helldrake and Chaos Land Raider are both coming in looking clutch for Chaos fans. But we want to take a minute to focus on the Land Raider. It’s a Strength 8, Toughness 8, 16 Wounds, Leadership 9, and comes with a 2+ Save roll. Your troops are going to be more than just cozy in the back of this transport. It comes equipped with twin heavy bolter, two twin lascannons, and smoke launchers. The twin heavy bolter has a 36″ range, Heavy 6, Strength 5, AP -1, and does 1 damage.

The twin lascannon is Heavy 2, Strength 9, AP -3, and does D6 damage, that’s going to hurt… Now if you’re looking more towards defense for a round you can bring in those smoke launchers. Once per game, instead of shooting any weapons in the shooting phase, you can use the Smoke Launchers. This will make your opponent subtract 1 from all hit rolls for ranged weapons that target that vehicle.

Daemonic Machine Spirit is allowing you to ignore the -1 to hit modifier for moving and shooting Heavy weapons for this model. We’re seeing the explodes Ability again, this time it’s a little more legible. If this model is reduced to 0 wounds, roll a D6 before removing it and before any models disembark, on a 6 it explodes, and each unit within 6″ suffers D6 mortal wounds. As far as troop capacity goes it, it can hold 10 <Legion> Infantry models, Terminators and Jump Pack models take up 2 spaces, and each Cult of Destruction models takes up 3 spaces.
