Chaos Daemons are up next and GW just gave us a preview of new rules for all four of the Chaos Gods that are coming in the new Codex this January.

Games Workshop was pleased to announce the new Chaos Daemons codex is on its way. Let’s take a look at what they had to say about it and some of the new rules you’ll find inside.

The Chaos Daemons are coming.

Chaos Daemons Codex

Chaos Daemons forces possess a new kind of detachment-wide special rule that falls somewhere between codexes with a single faction (like the Death Guard) and multi-faction codexes (like the Space Marines). When taking a pure Daemons of Chaos detachment, you’ll be rewarded with Warlord Traits, Stratagems, psychic powers, scoring priority on your Troops choices and so on. Focus yourself further, however, and commit yourself to a specific Dark God, and you’ll receive special rewards in the form of Daemonic Loci. Daemonic Loci are powerful aura abilities gained by the Characters in your army. Excitingly, unlike previous editions, these Loci affect every single Daemon unit in your detachment, including your Greater Daemons! For today’s preview, we’ll be taking a look at what each Chaos God can expect to see.

The Locus of Rage is going to allow Khorne armies to re-roll charge rolls for Khorne Daemon units within 6″ of a friendly model with this ability in the Charge phase. Note UNITS not models. Time to bubble up those Bloodletters!

Tzeentch players will be getting access to the Locus of Trickery ability. This is going to let you roll two dice, discarding the highest result, and each time your opponent targets a Tzeentch Daemon unit within 6″ of a friendly model with this ability, all hit rolls with that dice result are discarded. This takes effect after all re-rolls, but before modifiers.

Nurgle will be getting the Locus of Virulence which will be doing an additional 1 damage on a wound rolls of a 6+ for friendly Nurgle Daemon units within 6″ of a model with this ability.

Slaanesh is going to become even faster with the Locus of Swiftness. This is going to allow all Slaanesh Daemon units within 6″ of a friendly model with this ability to charge in the Charge phase even if they advanced in their Movement phase. They’ll be in your face before you realize it.

All in all the new Daemons preview looks like the Chaos Daemons are going to be getting a nice little upgrade. Games Workshop will be previewing each individual Chaos God after the new year so make sure you’re checking back in with us for the latest updates.
