It’s almost time for the release of the Dark Angels codex, and today we’re taking a look at the Warlord Traits for the Unforgiven.
BoLS shared the new Dark Angels Warlord Traits with everyone yesterday.
Let’s take a look at them and see how they’re going to help your Dark Angels army on the tabletop.
Fury of the Lion is going to be a great way to make sure your opponent pays for charging your Warlord, or reward you for performing a Heroic Intervention. In either of these cases units within 6″ of your Warlord get a +1 to their Strength characteristic in the Fight phase.
Courage of the First Legion is providing just that… courage. Keep friendly Dark Angels units within 12″ of your Warlord and they will automatically pass Morale tests.
Brilliant Strategist is going to allow you to re-roll a single hit roll, wound roll, damage roll, or saving throw if your Warlord is on the battlefield. Additionally, for Battle-forged armies, you’ll get to roll a D6 each time you use a Stratagem and on a 5+ you’ll gain 1 CP.
Huntsman is going to show off why the Dark Angels should be feared on the tabletop. It’s going to allow your Warlord to fire their Pistol, Assault, Rapid Fire, and Grenade weapons at enemy Characters even if they are not the closest model. Additionally, they’re going to be able to move towards the closest enemy Character instead of the closest enemy model whenever they pile in or performs a Heroic Intervention. This is definitely going to help you get down support Character models that are giving your front line models a hard time.
Masters of Mandeuvre is going to help you get the most out of your Advances and charges. Friendly Dark Angels units can re-roll Advance or charge rolls as long as they are within 6″ of your Warlord.
Last but not least, Stubborn Tenacity. This is going to help keep your Warlord alive a little longer letting you add 1 to your Save throws, and on a 6+ your Warlord does not lose the wound.
The Dark Angels are definitely getting some nice options for Warlord Traits. But, the biggest question is going to be which one will you take. Do you want to focus on advancing, keeping your Warlord alive, getting the most out of your Stratagems, or beefing up your army? The choice is yours, just chose wisely.
