These minis from Andrea Miniatures were a recent find in a local FLGS. They immediately caught my eye as I have been looking for some high-quality Samurai minis to paint up. These bad boys are exactly what I was looking for!
Andrea Miniatures specializes in historical, and fantasy, miniatures of fine quality. Ranging in many scales, these miniatures are highly detailed, and have amazing sculpts. For more than 20 years, these miniatures have been seen in specialized publications and have received several international quality awards. The Legends of the Samurai draws from historical drawings by Hiroyuki Suwahara and bring that quality to some amazing variety of miniatures.
ANDREA DEPOT USA has the pleasure to introduce you, for the very first time, “Legends of the Samurai” an incredible 32mm miniature collection by the Japanese brand MRF, inspired by the drawings of the famous Japanese illustrator Hiroyuki Suwahara that have been sculpted and produced by the Andrea Miniatures team. This figures represent perfectly, despite of their small size, the courage and the values for these legendary warriors.
Yukimura $39
This heroic looking figure is Sanada Yukimura, a warlord of the Sengoku period. Also known as “The Warring States Period”, this time was an era of great upheaval. With every provincial warlord assembling armies, making alliances, and making grabs for power. Each one of them trying to unite Japan under a single regime.
Sanada was known for being an especially fierce warrior, making his name in a number of campaigns, including the Battle of Sekigahara, and the Siege of Osaka. With titles like, “A Hero who may appear once in a hundred years”, “Crimson Demon of War” and “The Last Sengoku Hero”, and a flashy red and white heraldry, this mini would be a great addition to anyone’s collection.
The box set comes with two miniatures, the character on foot, and mounted on a horse, and has two head options to choose from. The miniatures are white metal and ready to assemble.
Nobunaga $39
This mean-looking Samurai is the infamous Oda Nobunaga, the most brutal and feared warlord of his time. One of the only warlords in the bloody Samurai age to unify Japan under a single ruler. Known as one of the three great unifiers along with his two retainers Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, he carved a swath of blood and fire across Japan and created a short-lived single nation. In life, he was regarded as a wise ruler, a keen businessman, and a brutal master of war. Utterly destroying anyone who stood in his way or opposed him. Pretty scary right?
It wasn’t until his death by being trapped inside a temple that was burned down on top of him that his reign ended. Sparking the final years of the Sengoku Period, resulting in the Battle of Sekigahara, with his two generals, Toyotomi and Tokugawa, battling it out with their massive armies for sole dominance.
