This model was painted in about two hours from start to finish.

First, it was primed using Army Painter’s Ultramarine Blue spray, with touch-ups done with the color match system. Golds were done with Retributer Armor, then gloss applied. Army Painter Strong Tone was mixed with Vallejo Flow Improver to apply shadows by spraying all over. As base colors, this is crisp and clean and can be added onto later with more highlights and detail work. You can find the whole super quick tutorial here for all the additional steps.

The weapon options can be easily magnetized to the sides as well.

Assembly-wise, the pieces are fairly easy to put together, You want to be careful when doing the ball joints on the side, though, and keep a spring action to create tension to lock in place. The ball turret should easily be able to be pulled in and out, as well as to magnetize all the weapon options to those turrets. Also, the bottom crosshatch is a little too shallow to sit on the flying stand, so some adjustments will be required there to make the raptor sturdy.

fire raptor rules

Rules-wise, the Fire Raptor is fantastic for its firepower. It is -1 to hit and, as Ultramarine, can be buffed by Guilliman to reroll just about everything. Otherwise, it hits on 3+, does not take a negative to hit if it moves and fires, and can upgrade to several different weapons for various points.

At base, it comes with twin bolt cannons, two quad heavy bolters, and two twin hellstrike launchers which are all deadly.

Overall, the Fire Raptor is a fantastic choice to take for the Astartes and is a cool addition to any army just by looking amazing. To see the entire review and showcase, be sure to press play on the video below!
