Rogue Trader Skirmish Confirmed By GW

rouge trader skirmish 40k rules pdf

Yesterday we posted some pics of a skirmish between a Rogue Trader and his posse battling the forces of Nurgle on a ship, which looks to be confirmed by GW.

Games Workshop was quick to confirm that some sort of new box game was indeed on the way, however, it is unclear whether the images that were spotted earlier were from the video, or if this video was a response to them…. or as a lot of hobbyists have pointed out, perhaps both.

A Closer Look

Something interesting about this model is that unlike other “gifts” of Nurgle, he actually has squid-like tentacles for an arm with a harpoon skewered through them as well as a fish on his hip. Could this actually have an underwater-type game setting?

These photos do the miniatures more justice as we can see all the awesome detail. Could the katana-wielding badass have rules similar to 40k’s assassins?

But that’s not all the news! GW left us with this ++REDACTED++ preview video as well:

Missed yesterdays’ post? We covered the first teasing pictures of the skirmish mode that you can check out now.

Teaser images of the Rogue Trader Teams battling some sort of Nurgly antagonists are here in what appears to be two exciting play formats:

Kill team RT

On the left, we can obviously see there are Nurgle(ish) creatures that seem to be modeled after both Poxwalkers and Nurglings. Some Bloatflies are sprinkled in and oh man look at those big guys in the back. If you haven’t noticed by now, there are also some Nurgle-looking fleas advancing in front of the rotting ranks.

Moving to the right the miniatures look to be some sort of Rogue Trader warband or perhaps an Inquisitorial kill team. There’s also new dog model in an armored harness accompanied by some Guardsmen-looking models with a fancy royal blue paint job.

In the back there looks to be a lightly armored character holding a pistol with an apothecary/surgeon behind him.

The Tabletop:

Kill team RT

Featuring stars on the edge of the play area, this definitely seems to be a spaceship. Hulking monstrosities sloughing about behind solid steel doors is definitely something to be mindful of when you are a lowly Rogue Trader. What looks to be like power generators and crates can be seen scattered throughout the map.

There are also some worm-like horrors near what looks to be an assassin-esque character.

Timing on these photos could not have been better, as last month we quoted a French Youtube channel mentioning “Kill Team” arriving around the time of the Deathwatch Codex.

Codex Deathwatch:
This is the go codex for primaris: they called it the codex Primawatch
– For primaris You can mix unit like this : 5 intercessors ( barebone) + a mix of 5 other miniatures from primaris ( for example agressors, hellbasters, interceptors)

Tactical flexibility stratagem to split your squad
– There will be a stratagem ( Teleportarium) to deepstrike a unit of death watch.
– Stratagem to give sniper rules on death watch unit against xenos . ( they take for example hellblasters sniping synapse tyranid)
– Stratagem auspex scan but work without deepstrike against xenos ( they take examples pointys ears that come at 12”inch and you shoot at them)
– Something to reroll wounds against troops? not precised if stratagem
– They talk about something that can remove tau markerlights? no idea of what type of things that can be

Kill team will be out the same month than deathwatch codex

What factions could these new models be from, and what do you make from the two different game boards? Let us know what you think in the comments below, or on Facebook.
