Kill Team is on the way finally as Games Workshop confirmed a release date, and gave us more clues as to what the will be included in this big release!
Kill Team protocols have been activated after the latest preview video was released by Games Workshop confirmed Kill Team is coming in July! Something big is coming to the Skirmish game we love.
Could there be new factions coming to the game? Will there be a massive reboot of the in the next few days? Let’s look at what we know so far:
GW Confirms Warhammer 40k Kill Team Release Date
In case you haven’t seen the video, this was originally posted to the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page from GW
https://www.facebook.com/WarhammerTVteam/videos/610940722634243/?t=33
There are a few key things about this video that makes us ask questions. For starters, the video said ” Oh emperor they’ve surrounded us. They’re everywhere”. Could this be a hint to the Imperium fighting Tyranids? More specifically Genestealer Cult? We did have previews on some sweet new models coming to GSC the other day.
So could those new models be popping up as a Kill Team? There’s a possibility!
The video also mentioned something about Skitarii. Maybe they will be getting an exclusive Kill Team as well. Whatever the case may be, make sure you take everything with a pinch of salt until we see actual confirmations.
Zamerion commented on a miniwars post:
I can not say much but I’ve seen some Kill Team news that will come out. It will be a game fully supported from the start, with a year of support and releases for it. It will also have elements of compact vertical terrain that can be easily stored by disassembling or folding it. There will also be new kits, and they will be included in a starter box as any complete
New Terrain
Going by that quote above, we should be seeing some new terrain that can be folded up and stored easily. The archways of the windows were actually spotted in a Rumor Engine.
GW wouldn’t have any reason to make a Rumor Engine out of a piece of terrain unless something was special about it right? Maybe this terrain in the picture is some of that “folding” terrain Zamerion mentioned.
Spotlight on Kill Team
It’s not exactly the same, but we can compare Kill Team to Shadespire in the 40k universe. There aren’t any tiles and cards to play around, but two small teams are pitted against each other to fight for dominance. Everyone on your team is essentially a character. You’ll be forced to make decisions sometimes sacrificing some lives in order to pull out a victory.
A year’s worth of promotion and releases are supposed to follow Kill Team. Maybe we will finally see Kill Team take off like Shadespire and Necromunda has. The folding terrain and sudden spotlight on Kill Team should attract new players into the 40k universe because they won’t need to shell out $300+ on an army to even have a fighting chance in 8th edition. exciting times are ahead!
