Beastmen previews have finally popped up this morning with an early look inside their Battletome. Check out the latest details on the faction!
Warhammer Community previewed the faction that’s been getting the spotlight for the past week. Come and look at the latest and see if you want to start this army ahead of time.
The Swiss Army Knife of Allegiance Abilities
If you didn’t know, most factions get one allegiance ability. Beastmen are getting a whopping three to pick from. This is a special rule exclusive to them, allowing you to have an extra edge on your opponent that they can’t do anything about.
Brayherd ambush looks a little crazy when you read it. You can essentially put half of your army in deepstrike and have them come onto a board edge in the first turn. This is something that got nerfed VERY quickly in 40k. You can completely encircle your foe and make them defend from all directions. This will be brutal.
This ability is alright and it’s fluffy. You can heal D3 wounds for doing a good job at what your army SHOULD be good at.
This is meant for an aggressive build. You can get a free advance that doesn’t count as an advance to help you get that charge off when you need it.
The Free Herdstone
As a Beastmen player, you’ll be able to take a Herdstone completely free. You get one just for playing Beastmen. It’ll be giving your forces an aura effect that will make combat swing ever in your favor if you stick closeby.
As time goes on, the aura gets bigger. You’ll be completely immune to battleshock and your opponents are already -1 to their armor save if anything is inside the bubble it puts off.
It’ll also be the source of summoning. You can sacrifice units to the flames in order to bring out even more things.
Beastmen Herds
Beastmen will be able to dedicate themselves to one of these three factions. They’ll get their own unique rules depending on what they are a part of.
Beastmen will be getting artifacts as well. There’s a catch though, you’ll have to give your hero the Desolate shard before you pick any others. But you’ll be able to curse the ground your hero stands on and make it lash out dealing D3 mortal wounds to enemy units.
Gravespawn heroes will have a little bit of extra value. When they die, you’ll almost always be getting a Chaos Spawn out of it. You’ll still have a threat bubble your opponent has to deal with when a leader dies. It’s like peeling an onion.
Warscroll Battalions for the Gods of Chaos
Oh yeah – I almost forgot to mention. Battletome: Beasts of Chaos brings Marks of Chaos back to your army. Usually, the Beasts are too anarchic to dedicate themselves to the gods, preferring instead to rut and reave according to their own whims – however, should you want to, you’ll be able to field a chaos-marked army using four new special Warscroll Battalions in the book.
Each of these is incredibly permissive – essentially, you’ll be paying a point or two per model for your mark. And you get a powerful ability to boot! Take the Brass Despoilers – as well as getting access to the Khorne keyword, you’ll get an incredible boost to your army for fighting in formation:
Get ready to see fast swarms of Beastmen charge your lines through hills, forests, and outcrops. Armies will be ambushed on all sides and armor will be sundered. Keep an eye out for even more previews to come. With the previews spotted today, will you be starting a Beastmen army? What allegiance ability will you be using?
