From Focus Home Interactive Community Channel:

This monster of a ship was responsible for playing a key part in defending Cadia during its siege. Today, it orbits Terra as a last line of defense to the Imperium’s capital planet.

The sheer size of this ship is daunting enough. It’s also Rogal Dorn’s personal ship that he’s had from the time before he even met the Emperor.

The game isn’t out just yet, but Chapter Master Valrak managed to give us some insight on how the ship plays in the game that’s underway. We know lorewise that it was tasked with defending Cadia and in-game, you do just that…On top of destroying a Blackstone Fortress.

That’s right. You’ll have to seek down a Blackstone Fortress and completely decimate it. Meanwhile, Chaos ships are doing everything they can to stop you. The only thing they didn’t realize is that you’re piloting THE PHALANX.

This ship is so massive, you can just bully other ships out of the way and not even think about slowing down. Rogal Dorn always had a natural affinity towards bolstering defenses and being a literal wall. His ship carries on the legacy of an impenetrable defense.
