GW may have accidentally let the Ork Squig out of the bag when they revealed their “How to build a 2k Speed Freeks Army” using only power levels.

CSI Robbie B is on the case trying to crack the code on the new Ork Speed Freeks units.

First off let’s check out Games Workshop’s list on Speed Freeks, and possible points ramifications across the board judging by these new power levels on units.

2k Speed Freeks List: Power Level Style

speed freeks list New 40k Ork Points Costs Hidden In Plain Sight?

We’ve built our list using Power rather than points for the sake of convenience. If you’re looking to build a matched play force, this list comes to about 2000 points, so shouldn’t need much adjusting.

Right off the bat, GW said the list is close to 2,000 points. Well if we go by what the studio said a while back, in that 1PL=20pts. 99 x 20 = 1980 which seems to line up with their current list preview, and their previous statements.

Now let’s take a look at what we know about the Orks currently and what may change in the near future.

(Remember that PL/pts ratios have been a little extreme in the past, but this is a good base ratio)

10x Ork Boyz

40k Kill Team Factions In-Game: How do They Play?

  • INDEX 10 x Boyz: 5PL=60pts
  • CODEX 10 x Boyz: 4PL=??pts

As of right now, Boyz are sitting at six points a pop. Seeing that they’re dropping another power level, could that mean Boyz will be costing one point less? Five points for one Boy seems a little OP. That doesn’t scale very well against an Imperial Guardsman model even though they’d cost basically the same.

3x Warbikers

warbike

INDEX 3x Warbikers: 5PL = 81pts
CODEX 3x Warbikers: 4PL = ??pts

A single Warbiker sits at 27 points right now. Assuming the PL scales to a point decrease, how much will Warbikers cost? 23pts?

Morkanaut

morkanaut

INDEX Morkanaut: 18PL = 320pts
CODEX Morkanaut: 15PL = ??pts

It may not seem like it…but a three PL drop is actually huge. That could be between a 40-60 point decrease in the Morkanaut. Who knows if they even changed anything on the model to make it better. We’ve just seen the Gorkanaut’s rumor of getting 18 shots instead of 3D6 so it’s a real possibility!

5x Nobz

INDEX 5x Nobz: 11PL = 85pts
CODEX 5x Nobz: 7PL = ??pts

Lastly, with the most insane drop in PL we’ve seen. Nobz are looking like they’ll be cutting their PL nearly in half. Will points be following suit?

Building this List using Index Points

Obviously, we don’t have the points for the latest vehicles and PL is somewhat random (It’s between 12-20 points per 1PL on some units). So we can’t say for sure how much they’ll cost just yet. However, adding up all of the existing units using the INDEX points values, the total comes out to 78PL = 1,152pts.

dragsta

If we assume that there’s going to be a slight points decrease across the board because of what the PL scaling is telling us, Ork players will have ABOUT 1,000 points to split between the seven new vehicles.

Here are some rough estimates of their potential costs based on 1PL = 20 points

  • Kustom Boosta-blasta – 5 Power 100 points
  • Shokkjump Dragsta – 6 Power 120 points
  • Boomdakka Snazzwagon – 5 Power 100 points
  • Megatrakka Scrapjet – 5 Power 100 points
  • Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy – 7 Power 140 Points
  • Deffkilla Wartrike – 6 Power  120 Points
  • Deffkilla Wartrike – 6 Power  120 Points

Which comes out to about 900 points roughly, which is still in the ballpark of a 2k list when added to the points above!

deffkilla wartrike

Keep in mind, the HQ Wartrikes might cost a bit more because they’re characters, but who knows? They could be cheaper than a hundred points at the end of the day.

What do you think about the PL dropping trend? Do you think five points for one Boy is too cheap? What do you think the points will be on the new vehicles? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
