Is Blackstone Fortress worth picking up this holiday weekend? We show you the 10 things you need to know about the game, including building the models!

It is Black (stone) Friday weekend, and this game is the latest specialty game from Games Workshop that has great looking miniatures and a grimdark feel.

Let’s go over ten things you need to know about this new release so you can decide if it is worth your holiday hobby dollars.

Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress: $150

As vast and dark as a sunless void, the Blackstone Fortress is a creation far beyond the ken of any race in the galaxy. In this age of darkness, in a galaxy riven with strife and horror, the desperate and intrepid alike search this Fortress for long-lost technologies that may be used to turn the tide of war.

The First thing to consider is that this game might not be for everyone it has a lot of different aspects and feels like a cross between 40k, a board game, and a roleplaying game all in one. Blackstone Fortress should be played over multiple game sessions and not as a one-off game.

Gather your team and get ready for several weeks of fun.

Another thing to consider is that you are not just flipping through one rulebook while playing, there are several tomes to go over during a game of Blackstone Fortress and you will find yourself flipping through the different books for rules questions throughout your game.  While I am sure we can appreciate not having to flip back and forth in one book, from the onset it seems to make the game appear more complicated than it really is.

Last but not least we get everyone’s new favorite robot together these miniatures are your standard push fit miniatures that we have come to expect from Games Workshop and not the multi-part kits from the days of old.

Blackstone Fortress looks like an interesting new take on the Grimdark Future.

As always keep those hobby muscles strong, stay in the trenches, and check out our Top 10 things you need to know about Blackstone Fortress Unboxing Video below!
