Put those Photato Cameras away because Games Workshops just dropped some big reveals for the new Blackstone Fortress game.
Sure we know the price and have a vague idea about what is coming inside the box, but today GW revealed some major teasers for the new Blackstone Fortress.
Squats?, Beastmen, Robots, Chaos of all shapes and sizes, and the one of the freshest Eldar sculpts to date. Who would have thought this was the lineup that would be in the box!
Is That a Squat? GW Drops Big Reveals For Blackstone Fortress
Janus Draik is “ringleader” of the whole operation to claim the Blackstone Fortress.
The Rogue Trader, Janus Draik, looks to be the main character out of the game. He’s been quoted from the preview earlier talking about a <Redacted>. He’s also talking in a video from Games Workshop.
Janus is talking in the video about an area of space full of adventurers that’s called Precipice.
The video is essentially him looking for a group brave (or stupid) enough to follow him into the Blackstone Fortress. It looks like he’s already got a group of adventurers by his side…
Whatever the reason may be for the Kroot to join Janus, he’s decked out and armed to the teeth when you compare him to some of the 40k models that Tau use as expendable cover.
These drones were spotted in a video watching Janus and his men. Could something deeper inside the fortress have hardwired them for a more sinister plan?
We’ve heard rumors of Chaos getting a Sorcerer model, Marines, and Renegade Guardsman-type units in the game…but not Drones.
In the latest video, Janus is talking about what he sees upon entering. Hallways and doors constantly changing, Areas moving and twisting at random intervals, (basically a mini Tzeentch realm). But more importantly, he says “we know we are being watched…the fortress knows we are here”. Those Drones/servitors don’t necessarily look dangerous. But looks can be deceiving.
Janus’s Opposition: Negavolt Cultists & More
Negavolt Cultists express their heretical devotion by despoiling machinery and corrupting the function of sacred technologies through daemonic invocations and abstruse rituals. Such cults can often be found on planets controlled by the Adeptus Mechanicus.
What would Ur-Ghul be doing inside the Blackstone Fortress? Are they there to pick up the bloody scraps from fights within the corridors?
Guardsman that have turned their backs on the Emperor look like they’re sticking together within the dark halls. It’s no surprise that they would be in a fortress dedicated Chaos itself.
This is the most interesting clip from the video by far. There’s definitely a Marine of some kind with a thunder hammer. Is this the new Chaos Lord that the rumors were talking about?
What is that figure standing just in front of the Negavolt Cultists with the Chaos banner? It looks humanoid but not quite like everything else in the art. We aren’t quite sure.
GW Controls the Pumpkin Spice
After a quick jab remind us all that they are the source of all things Games Workshop (no duh), they get down to business with some dope previews for what is soon to be a fan favorite game for Warhammer 4ok:
Squinting at the models trying to work out what they all are? We’ve got you covered – here are some detail shots of Amallyn Shadowguide, an Aeldari Ranger who has thrown her lot in with the other explorers searching for the Blackstone Fortress…
Maybe, more importantly, are all the hidden previews inside the teaser video itself as the rumor squig seems to be completely out of the bag at this point as to the contents of this box.
First up looks to be some squat-ty type halflings that perhaps have an affinity for long range shooting, and tinkering?
Jumping right over to Chaos, well taste the rainbow:
This guy appears to be floating away as he attempts to shoot some magic missiles at the loyalist forces. Check out the beasty renegades flanking him as well. Eat your heart out Tzaangors meat is back on the menu!
Wow, how many years have we waited for these? Plastic Renegade guardsmen. I’m torn on which I want more, Plastic Sisters or an army of these!
Someone needs to check their prescription because this is most definitely NOT Abaddon, but man if GW can make a Chaos Lord this good, think of what miniature glory awaits for Despoiler himself!
Back to the “good guys” I think it’s safe to say this Ranger model sums up all of our hopes and dreams for the all the models that need updates from the 90’s and 2000’s. Simply…. gorgeous!
That’s not all, looks like more classic reboots are coming our way along with some fresh new faces:
And what better way to make an exit that the classic hero pose lineup and product shot to close everything out.
Boom, goes, the Dynamite. Look for more on this release Sunday as pre-orders are set for November 10th.
What are your thoughts on Blackstone Fortress? Do you think the models will have 40k rules as well?
