Buckle up 40k players, 3 new FAQ covering Chapter Approved, Vigilus, and Wrath & Rapture are here! Take a look at the latest changes for 2019.
Games Workshop dropped the first round of FAQs for 2019 with quite a few changes. Make sure you go into the FAQs themselves and read up on everything that’s changed. We’ll be going over what we think are the biggest updates below:
40k Vigilus Changes
Quite a few little changes were made. Keep in mind this is the first FAQ for Vigilus so you won’t see anything in Magenta like normal. All in all, storm shields got cheaper, Victrix Guard are only able to intercept one attack on a 2+, and Haarken lets friendly Raptors reroll hits in close combat.
The Holy Orb is one of the new relics found in the Vigilus book that got updated. It’s still especially useful against hordes. you’ll do 3D3 mortal wounds to a 30-man Boy squad for example.
The Hammer of Sunderance relic for Imperial Guard that replaces a Battle Cannon also had its wording changed to allow for Grinding Advance. (You used to not be able to fire twice with it RAW).
However, it still looks like Wyverns will be restricted to firing one of their TWO shatterstorm mortars with their detachment still.
There are still a few changes here and there so be sure to check out the Vigilus updates for your faction.
Chapter Approved 2018 Changes
The Kill Cannon on the Wagon got changed to 2 flat damage. Orks and Space Wolves also had a few points changed around on some of their units from Chapter Approved. (i.e Skorchas, Warbuggies, and Wartrakks are all above 30 points).
The Passion Act of Faith for Sisters of Battle had its wording changed around just a little bit…but the unit still gets to fight twice in a single turn.
There were also a few clarifications from the designers in regards to some missions/stratagems. Make sure you glance over that so everybody at your shop is on the same page!
Wrath and Rapture Changes
The only thing that changed from Wrath and Rapture was the Flesh Hounds Burning Roar. It got updated to Assault D6. A very welcome update considering it was just a SINGLE S4 auto hit.
Keep in mind, these are the first changes we’ve seen on 2018 material for 2019. We’re sure we’ve got a lot of changes in store for us still as we move deeper into the year. What do you think about these changes? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
