Forge World teased everyone with what is coming inside the cover of the Malevolence book as well as book 9 that will contain the Dark Angels!
At the Horus Heresy Weekender, Forge World held a seminar on the mysterious Book 8: Malevolence that has been waiting in the wings for so long… But they didn’t stop there. They also gave us a few tips on what else is coming further down the line for book 9 and beyond!
Forge World on Malevolence
Sanguinius’s rules sheet is going to be found in the book as well as a host of other characters. Daemons are coming to another game with them now being (30k, 40k, and AoS-playable).
Malevolence would be huge if it was just about the Space Marine Legions – but it also sees Daemons enter the fray in full for the first time. We’re talking full-scale incursions – tides of hellspawn pouring forth from open wounds in reality. On the tabletop, this means a full army list that lets you bring daemonic forces to the Horus Heresy
If you’re not a Demon, White Scar, or Blood Angels player, there’s still plenty reason to grab the book. It also tells of campaigns of the Alpha Legion and the Chondax system.
Although he’s not been previewed, Jaghatai Khan’s name was spotted on a slide in the Malevolence seminar. He could very well be the next Primarch to hit the table.
More on Malevolence & Onward
Thanks to Andrey Nalyotov on Facebook, we’ve got an idea about what will be coming… soon.
- Five new Legion Consuls are coming as well as something called Annihilators – anti-Psyker / anti-Daemon Astartes specialists inc. anti-Psyker flamers.
- Psyarkana wargear and relics are going to be usable. -These were the first Occult relics discovered during the Great Crusade
- Book Eight contains a reworked Talons of The Emperor army list! This was originally intended for a red book but has been included into Eight as it is the most expedient way of getting the rules to the players.
- Horus Heresy and 8th Edition: no plans to change from 7th currently but it is a decision that sits above the book writers. -The community seems divided on this point. HH fans love 7th but a lot of 40k players won’t go near the game unless they move it into 8th edition.
- New Red Book is a possibility for the Legions. However, two rules/background writers mean less BB resources.
- New playtesting groups have been established for testing Age of Darkness, but it’s a long process.
- The latest in-game rules have been much more thoroughly tested than previous heresy publications.
- The Ordinatus Mole rules will be released online soon separately.
- MK II armor pattern is going to return.
- Book Nine working title: Crusade, not Angelus, still about the Dark Angels/NL/Thramas and Dark Mechanicum. -They’re already planning the next step in the timeline.
Speaking of book nine…
Book Nine Teased at Weekender
Thramas crusades are going to be delved into with campaign systems revolving around key missions.
With every book like this that drops, there’s one or two Legions that are completely covered. The Dark Angels are going to be getting the spotlight in book nine. Like we are seeing with Malevolence, book nine will also have a host of special characters for the Legion.
Looking at the Traitor’s side of things, Dark Mechanicum is going to be getting their full army list as well as more details and coverage on the Nightlords. There haven’t been any specifics on anything and no dates were mentioned.
With a glimpse into the future, we know that Horus Heresy isn’t going to be slowing down. They’re already planning the next book and have even taken the liberty of playtesting potential rules more thoroughly to keep the game fair.
Ultimately, what do you think about the new Anti-Psyker units mentioned? Why would MK II power armor return? Will another Primarch show up in Book Nine? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
