Games Workshop has been busy behind the scenes working on a skirmish game, as well as a new expansion for AoS. Check out what was spotted at GAMA.
Warhammer Community let us in on what Games Workshop has been showing off to the world at the GAMA convention that is happening right now.
Warcry: AoS Skirmish Game
This is Warcry – a new skirmish game from the makers of Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds that allows you to experience the visceral carnage of battle in the Mortal Realms in a whole new way.
In the game, you’ll follow the myriad tribes of Chaos – reavers and despoilers from every corner of the realms – as they make their dark pilgrimage to the Varanspire. Warcry explores a never-before-seen side of life (and death!) in the Age of Sigmar. Every model for this game is brand new, reflecting on the dizzying diversity of Chaos on a scale never attempted before and rooted in rich lore that realizes the servants of the Dark Gods as deep and varied cultures.
This game is a bit like Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds mashed together. We’ll have exclusive new models making up different Warbands of Chaos inside competing for dominance in a place called Varanspire.
We’re sure we haven’t seen all the models yet, but just looking through what was spotted in the video, the Warbands are stunning. It looks like there are still four Warbands that haven’t seen the spotlight.
There were some flying creatures spotted in swarms on the video. We’re not sure if these will be a “third element” to the game. Warbands may have to fight off a horde of these things before they can get back to killing each other. One thing is for sure. When you pit Chaos fighters against more Chaos fighters, there’s bound to be bloodshed.
Forbidden Power: An AoS Expansion
Forbidden Power is an expansion for every Warhammer Age of Sigmar player that’ll put you at the heart of the latest battles in the Soul Wars. Look forward to major narrative developments, new magical powers to unleash and new rules for all of your games. We’ll have more news on just what it means for you soon.
We’re not sure of any details just yet. However, this is looking to be some kind of big narrative advancement. We know that Soul Wars came from the Necroquake. And ever since, the Stormcasts have been doing all they can to stop the Undead hordes from creeping like mold across the realms.
Age of Sigmar Munchkin
Warhammer Age of Sigmar Munchkin is coming! The endless possibilities of the Mortal Realms combined with the endless hilarity of Munchkin – this is going to be epic!
Keep your eyes peeled for more card previews in the days ahead! 40k Munchkin has only been out a hot minute and it looks like it was so successful that GW decided to hop on board with an AoS-themed Munchkin as well!
All in all, we’ve got big days ahead for everything Age of Sigmar. Three new expansions/games are all themed around those mortal realms we know and love! What are your thoughts on Warcry? Do you think it will replace Warhammer Underworlds? Which Warband are you looking for? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
