A Compelling Argument That Tomb Kings Are Returning

By Rob Baer | May 30th, 2019 | Categories: Age of Sigmar, Warhammer 40k Rumors

If you miss the Tomb Kings, check out these compelling arguments that they may be returning in some form or another to Age of Sigmar!

Tomb Kings were one of the factions that didn’t make GW’s cut in the End Times. Some of the older factions like Skaven and Seraphon made the port. However, the Tomb Kings were left in the dust. While they still have rules for them in AoS things are looking pretty grim for the faction as a whole.

However, check out these two little tidbits that we have gathered that may indicate a return in some form or another…

Lord Settra Spotted On Forbidden Power Artwork?

Settra’s chief title is Settra the Imperishable and he’s been one of the head honchos of Tomb Kings since their models were made. However, with Tomb Kings not getting any real recognition at the start of AoS 2.0, we thought that the faction might have been done for.

Creamy Italian Wrestler pointed this out to us recently:

In the background of Lord C and the Ghal Maraz charging up, there’s some kind of giant monstrosity above them. We’re not saying it’s Settra but we can see some similarities for sure.

Comparing Settra’s old model to the artwork, we can see a few resemblances. The main one being the skull-like facial features and the single white dot on the creature’s forehead. The top arrow looks to just be a boulder falling down as a part of some ruins but we can’t say for sure it’s not a part of Settra’s headdress.

Nonetheless, it raises the question… Could Settra be a part of the “forbidden power”?

Lord Settra Could Also Be a Stormcast Now

Remember, Lord Settra’s chief title is Settra the Imperishable.  With that said, a peculiar name popped up in an Age of Sigmar novel, Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods by David Guymer.

Coming from an eagle-eyed fan on TGA Community, there are two main commonalities that have been spotted between Settra and Settrus…

  1. There’s a striking similarity between names here. It’s not too hard to see a similarity in Settra and Settrus.
  2. He has a “special loathing of the Undying King” or Nagash. If you know anything about Tomb Kings lore, you’ll probably know that Settra hates Nagash with a fiery passion.
  3. His soldiers in the book are called “the Imperishables”. Settra was called “Settra the Imperishable” back in the old days.

Do you see what we’re seeing?

While there’s some real evidence supporting Settra being a Stormcast, could he also be some kind of unbound powerful entity that the Stormcasts call on?

While the Tomb Kings look like they won’t be getting any support, could their leader have shifted allegiances and joined the forces of Sigmar? With all of the information at hand, what do you think about Settra? Could he be a Stormcast? Is he just a powerful spirit used by the Stormcasts? Could he be both?
