Is a new 40k transport vehicle for Adeptus Mechanicus on the way for the Skitarii? Don’t miss months worth of clues and the latest teaser from GW!
Warhammer Community dropped a preview at the Australian Championship showing a video of two mechanicum talking to each other in a chat log. If you take time to read the details, you can see some foreshadowing of a new vehicle coming to the faction.
New Skitarii Vehicle Underway?
Using the classic Skitarii language (jumbled up numbers and beep-boops or binary whichever) a Ranger went to the master of sacred armories for a request of a new vehicle. But this isn’t just any vehicle…he’s asking for a means of new transport. After asking time after time he finally gets granted permission for a new vehicle.
We know this isn’t just a rumor that’s going to vanish into thin air. This is for the simple fact that it’s coming from GW. So what would it mean for the faction to get a new transport? Well, historically speaking, Ad Mech/Skitarii are one of the slower “grinding advance” factions that have incredible shooting. They just lack some real speed compared to races like Dark Eldar. If a cheap, reliable transport was placed into the faction’s arsenal, we might begin to see more competitive lists pop up on competitive tables.
Imagine some kind of massive Onager-type transport that was capable of carrying something like twenty dudes. Having that roll up onto an objective could mean the end for whatever enemies are trying to hold it. But speaking of a new transport, could these rumor engines have anything to do with the model GW is talking about?
Could Rumor Engines Point To The Transport?
So far we’ve been thinking this rumor engine could be some kind of new Primaris flamer in the works. However, we aren’t going to dismiss the fact that this could also be the weapon on top of a new Skitarii transport.
Looking at the radar rumor engine that we’ve been mentioning from time to time as well, we’ve been thinking this could be for the Primaris. However, we can definitely make a case for this bit going on some kind of Skitarii control station on the transport as well.
Finally, we feel like this is the bit that screams “Skitarii” the most. It almost looks like a top-down view of an Onager hatch. Could the Skitarii have taken an Onager chassis and just refitted it to be a transport? We have to stick to the guessing game for now but we’ll know for sure in the days ahead.
Compare to the Onager’s hatch. They appear nearly identical minus the optics.
