Orks dominate 40k at the Gentleman GT as two of their army lists made the top 3 overall, one going undefeated! Check out the placings!

We’ve got another batch of results for you from the Gentleman’s GT event in Las Vegas. With over 60 players in the event, the competition was fierce. Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. With all that being said, let’s jump in!

3rd Place: Orks-Ben Jurek

Starting in 3rd place with Orks, we’ve got the classic Dread Waaagh! Vigilus formation to unlock the souped-up shooting.

The first Battalion ran a couple of Big Meks (one with the relic), a squad of Shootas, and not one, but TWO count ’em TWO Gorkanauts. And last but not least, a gun line of Mek Gunz. Also worth a note, this player ran these guys as Freebooterz which is a clan we haven’t seen on the radar at all.  However, Orks re-rolling 1’s to hit is a pretty scary proposition when you think about it.

For the second detachment, another Battalion was filled with the cheapest bodies available. The real heat from the final detachment cam from two Dakkajets and a Wazbom Blastajet. All in all, this list ran almost completely different from most of the meta Ork lists we’ve been covering. However, it still managed to come in 3rd place! Apparently, Gorkanauts do have what it takes to throw down on some lists!

Nice job.

2nd Place: Eldar- Daniel Olivas

In the first detachment, the points were pretty evenly spread among all the battlefield roles. A Warlock and Skyrunner led a battalion of a bunch of small duders with firepower. Rangers and one ten-man squad of Storm Guardians filled the troops role for early-game objective grabbing. As for the Heavy Support, three squads of Dark Reapers were chosen and supported by some Wave Serpents.

Moving into a Dark Eldar mixed detachment, two Archons led a fast glass cannon force with Kabalite Warriors loaded into some Venoms to get down the board quickly and harass the enemy. And finally, with a Supreme Command detachment, the Yncarne made an appearance with a couple of other small HQ options for the Eldar. Between the Yncarne popping up in the enemy’s face, the Venoms grabbing objectives and running interference, and the Dark Reapers popping armor, this list was solid all around. Great job!

1st Place: Orks- Rich Kilton

Looking at our first place list, this player ran the classic Ork package. The first detachment was a Battalion loaded to the brim with massive Boy Squads under the Evil Sunz clan to make the most out of their movement. Plus there was on Weirdboy to fling a unit per psychic phase with Da Jump.

Finally, a cheap-o Battalion formed a Dread Waaagh! Vigilus formation for the relic shokk attack gun and a third battalion ran a 15 squad of Lootas hiding behind some Gretchin. Like we said earlier, this list is an Ork archetype that we’ve seen time and time again. Nothing new from previous events.

Great job to everyone who placed and brought something unique to the table! Xenos clearly got the better end of the deal out of this tournament. Tell us what you think about the Xenos meta in 8th edition in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
