Check out the latest rumors and see what may be next for the new 40k Space Marine codex releases, and perhaps a starter set as well…
We’ve been hearing talk for a while now about two Chapters that are next in line for codex support. This isn’t a far-off rumor since we’ve already seen Games Workshop preview [REDACTED] Space Marine codex supplements in a bundle.
Plus, with Salamanders labeling being found on White Scars dice, that pretty much confirms support for one Chapter already!
Next Space Marine Codex Rumors:
If you missed them the first wave, we’ll start here for completeness. Here is our first industry insider rumor on the new books:
A bunch of Chapters getting support… Next books should be the Raven dudes and the Iron Hands with some special character. Data cards, limited editions part of the release.
Right away, it sounds like Raven Guard and Iron Hands are up next. With the mentioning of some “special character”, it makes us think of the Primaris Iron Father previewed a while back for the Iron Hands.
We’re still waiting for the rules on this guy, but just going off of the model alone, it looks like he’ll at least be able to heal D3 wounds to a vehicle. It would also make sense for him to have some kind of aura. Whether it be something simple like reroll 1’s to maybe +1 to hit for Iron Hands vehicles, either one looks fitting!
Product Mix Up Reveals New Codex?
A little label snafu may have just accidentally confirmed one of the 4 yet to be released codex supplements as well. This image was spotted on Reddit, and judging by the shadowing on the dice themselves it most likely is not doctored:
Guess we can safely check off the SALAMANDERS box for a new supplement now.
7 New Space Marine Codex Books!
So we know the new main SM codex is $40 and the supplements are $30 each. However, three weeks in, which ones are on the way, what new models will be releases seems to be the big question on most folks minds now.
To suggest that an Imperial Fist and a White Scar fight, in the same way, is nearly heresy – and the new codex and codex supplements really lean into the distinct identities of each Chapter to ensure they work on the tabletop the way they do in the lore. Codex: Space Marines has everything you need to play with an army of gene-enhanced super-soldiers, and each of the supplements offers you additional, Chapter-specific datasheets and thematic rules that emphasize their unique heritage and the genetic legacy of their Primarch.
So it goes without saying that the rumors about a new Ultramarines and White Scars codex book were true, so that leaves 4 more chapters to get named on those ++redacted supplement++ spines.
The usual suspects could be:
- Raven Guard (Rumored)
- Iron Hands (Rumored)
- Imperial Fists (mentioned above in GW’s preview)- This could, in fact, be a “Fist Soup” book of all the Dorn Chapter rules.
- Salamanders (Confirmed per above?)
Remember that the Crimson Fists just got updated earlier in the year via the first Index Astartes White Dwarf Article. Also is worth mentioning I think, that if those books also get data cards, character models and dice they will go off the same pricing scheme that we already talked about.
Black Templars Rules Rumors
Before we jump into these rumors, remember to take everything with a pinch of salt. Spotted on a Warhammer Forum, a user by the name of Kikasstou mentioned:
To change the subject for those interested, I read somewhere that the BT (Black Templars) will not be in the IF (Imperial Fists) supplement but rather in a Vigilus campaign supplement. (translated from French)
From where we are now, it seems a bit odd that GW would pass over that Black Templars to give them more Vigilus-type of support. However, assuming these rumors are true, the Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists might be the only one found inside of a Dorn Soup supplement book.
Latest: Space Marine Rumors- Release Schedule, BT Vs. Orks Box & More
Hot off of the rumor mill, Black Templars and Orks might be the next two 40k factions in the days ahead to get a Starter Box Set. These would be similar in style to Forgebane, Tooth and Claw, etc.
These rumors come from Kirioth who says that he got word from a reliable source that gave accurate information on Blackstone Fortress before its release. In short, please take this with a pinch of salt.
Here’s everything that was said:
- The first two supplements to be released are Iron Hands and Raven Guard.
- Every Chapter is getting an upgrade sprue.
- Everyone will get a Primaris character (similar to the Iron Father).
- Each Chapter is getting dice and transfer sheets.
- Look for supplements to release every two months.
- Atop more Black Templar rumors, Black Templars and Orks might be getting a campaign-style Box Set. (This would work well with the previous rumors mentioning some Vigilus-type of support).
- Ghazghkull Thrakka will be getting a new model (not coming inside of the campaign box set mentioned above).
And there you have it. Two hefty rumors circulating around Black Templars and the future Space Marine releases/schedules.
