Watch Out For Space Marine Grav-Cannons Now

Space Marines are about to hit in a whole new way with much-needed support. Check out what’s new with Grav-Cannons that we might be seeing in the meta!

If you’ve been keeping up with the new codex supplements. you already know that Space Marines are getting a ton of needed support in 40k. But check out Grav Cannons in particular.

Grav Cannons Might Be the New Hotness

A Grav-Gun

Looking at the Grav stat by itself, it sits somewhere between a Heavy Bolter and a plasma gun. It’s got decent strength and high AP, but if it targets a unit with a 3+ save or better, the damage gets boosted to D3. They’re a solid weapon on their own but nobody ever really used them. However, Thanks to a new Stratagem called Gravitic Amplification. For 1CP, you can reroll all failed wound and damage rolls for Grav weaponry.

Now, Grav Cannons are like that one girl in High School that was always in your class but you never really paid attention to her. However, one day, after being rejected by all the popular girls, you notice her and realize that she’s been better than everyone else all along.

Grav Cannons can be lumped together for a max of four in Devastator squads and thanks to the new Drop Pod rework, we’ll be able to bring them in turn one.

Grav Delivery Systems

Drop Pod Deploy

What we might be seeing shortly is two Drop Pods with a squad of Grav Devastators in each. During the first turn, you bring one down and melt any armor in range for 1CP. Your opponent is going to have to shift their force and deal with what pops out of the pod.

Next turn, bring another Drop Pod down on the other side where he shifted his armor and melt some more. We’re not saying that two squads of Devastators can destroy an entire army, but you can expect to do some real damage and cause commotion while the rest of your army moves up.   Or better yet, hit him from the opposite side with some of the new SMASH Captains.

With a meta saturated with Tank Commanders, Dreadnoughts, and Knights, these guys could be the “equalizers” of many Marine lists.

What are your thoughts on the new Grav weapon Stratagem? Will Imperial Fists Grav be the best since they ignore cover? Or will we see more mobile White Scar Biker blobs loaded with Grav instead?
