It’s no surprise by now that Eldar are the first faction in line for the 40k Psychic Awakening series. Here’s what may be next for them in the days ahead.
The Aeldari as a whole have been around for a hot minute now. There are a ton of sub-factions and divisions that have mixed emotions toward each other. With so many Aeldari units available, it’s about time we see an update for some of the models.
Psychic Awakening Support
The Aeldari just got their first official in-depth preview recently showcasing a Howling Banshee Exarch. And while “Psychic Awakening” might sound like it should only pertain to Psykers, this model shows us that non-Psyker units aren’t disqualified from support. So here’s what we’d like to see get updated.
Starting off, it might be about time to see some Aeldari Shining Spears get a reboot. The model is cool, but it’s going up in age and GW’s new model-making technology is incredible. They could do a lot with these guys to make them look like the badass biker unit they really are. Right now, they’re sitting on GW’s web store as Direct Order.
That might be a hint that they’re working on something new, and trying to push stock out the door. As a matter of fact, some online retailers in the UK just got a fresh shipment of previously direct order only Eldar Aspect kits.
As of right now, Warp Spiders are also on GW’s site as Direct Order. Could it be that they are going to be seeing a model rework in the days ahead? It’s about time to bring these guys back in a new light!
Swooping Hawks are another Direct Order unit on GW’s site, but serve as a cheap, quick Fast Attack option for the Eldar. At just 65 pts, they can come in with 4 shots apiece to help clear off screens. The models are cool but seeing them reworked in plastic would be tight. Do you think they’d be scaled up like all of the other new models have been?
Finally, looking at Dark Reapers, these guys haven’t made it to the Direct Order section just yet. However, their models are old and can most definitely use a rework. They’re a hugely popular unit in the Aeldari meta and are still rocking the classic Chaplain skull face. If there was a unit that needed an update to plastic most, ut would probably be these guys.
While we haven’t covered all of the units that the Aeldari need updated, these are a few solid choices that GW couldn’t go wrong with. What do you think about these units in 8th edition? Do you use any of these in your lists now?
