Painting Iron Hands Primaris is Secretly Easy

Can painting Iron Hands Space Marines really be secretly easy? Watch now and find out for yourself with Next Level Painting!

Next Level Painting is bringing you another hot painting tutorial, focused this time on Iron Hands. The Iron Hands have been really hot right now, so it makes sense to paint up a regal looking Iron Hand Primaris Marine! Let’s get to it dawg!

Iron Hands

Start out with a black primed model, and paint it black again. When working with black, it can be difficult to get nice transitions without it looking grey. Adding more black after priming makes sure that all nooks and crannies of our model are black. An interesting mix up for our Iron Hands model is to add a little blue to our black.

Iron Hands

A combination of Army Painter Matt Black and Ultramarine Blue gives us a nice top/down Zenithal highlight. This shallow grey color serves as a nice transition for our black by adding a bit of color to our grey. Add blue to brighten it up as you go, adding highlights. Add a drop of white paint to brighten it up yet further and turn down your airbrush PSI.

Turing down the PSI gives you ultimate control on your strong highlights, without ruining your paint job. Use a paintbrush and some Army Painter Plate Metal to color in all the details of our model: weapon, ammo pouches, grenades, etc. Add some edge highlights with your Plate Metal brush all over the model.

Once finished with detail work, this model can be covered in the Army Painter Dark and Strong Tones to add a sweet weathering look. Add a few edge highlights and this model is done! Iron Hands can be secretly easy to paint, once you know the best way to transition and highlight black paint.
