Psychic Awakening Support We Need For Tau & Necrons

necrons hor walWhile we don’t know what’s in store for all the 40k factions yet in Psychic Awakening, here’s something Necrons and Tau could definitely use though.

Psychic Awakening has been announced with GW saying that every faction will have a stake in it. That being said, Necrons and Tau don’t really have any way to interact with the psychic phase in-game. Taking to the lore, here are some ways we could see these factions become more relevant.

What Could Necrons Get?

pariah

Well, the easy answer would be a Pariah. We’ve seen these guys before and they’re essentially Psychic blanks that can mess with the warp around them. But Necrons deserve something more exciting. Let’s look at some of the C’tan.

ctan

Digging into the lore a bit, the C’tan don’t really have a way to interact with the Warp. They have been around since the big bang and were once creatures of immense power that ate stars. Necrons shackled them in smaller bodies and reined them in after they saw a C’tan start to eat their home star. Fast-forwarding to the battle of Damnos, there was a C’tan there fighting Marneus, Cato Sicarius, and a full force of Ultramarines. The battle raged on until Cato threw a Vortex grenade at the C’tan sending it into the warp.

That being said, it’s presumed dead (as C’tan don’t have any real interaction with the Warp and don’t like it). But this could be an open door for GW to bring Psychic C’tan to the field with all-new models.

What Could Tau Be Getting in Psychic Awakening?

Farsight

If you know anything about Farsight and how he got his weapon, basically, he was attacked on a planet by a bunch of Daemons. He grabbed an ancient blade closeby at the site of the attack (now called Dawnblade) that drains the life of whatever he kills and adds it to himself. He also found a few six-sided medallions (Talismans of Arthas Moloch) that have some anti-warp properties. GW could use this as a way to advance the plot.

Tau might have “weaponized” those medallions bringing some kind of deployable warp-field energized by the stones that could cause Psykers within 24″ -2 to cast. (This is just a simple example). Either way, the Tau have had their run-in with Daemons multiple times and have even had some Ethereals discovered to be Daemon possessed. While the Tau might not be on the Warp’s first list of souls to go after, they have definitely some kind of interaction.

What do you think these factions could be getting in Psychic Awakening? Would you like to see a psychic C’tan make an appearance? Or would you rather have Pariahs come back? Do you think the Tau are trying to snuff out some dark secrets of their own?
