cypher the fallen angel darkDark Angels have always favored shooting over melee. But with this Doctrine rules combo, they may just outgun Tau and the rest of Warhammer 40k!

40k Meta Shift: Dark Angels Combo About to Out-Gun Tau

Ritual of the damned book warhammer 40k rules

Heres’ the combo. Let’s take a look at the Dark Angels Devastator Doctrine Bonus first.

dark angels doctrin relentless huntWhat’s already tier-one about this bonus rule is that you begin the game with it. Any time where you have a leg-up on your opponent sooner in the game usually curves your chances of victory. Iron Hands and Imperial Fists have their Doctrine bonus proc in the first turn and they’re both top tier armies.

Getting into the rule itself, any Heavy and Rapid Fire weapons get their range increased by 6″. Meanwhile, Assault and Pistols have their range increased by 3″. This is a Doctrine that affects 99.999% of the arsenal at the Dark Angel’s disposal. It’s already incredibly solid. But there looks to be a way to make this even crazier.

The Space Marine McPick Two

walpaper chaos versus dark angelsIf you’re a fan of running your own custom Chapter and like swapping rules out, you might be seasoned in using the McPick Two list of Chapter Tactics. You can base your Successor Chapter from a main Chapter (Blood Angels, Raven Guard, Salamanders, Etc.). However, instead of having access to their named characters and Chapter Tactic, you can pick two from a list to use. Note, you still get to use all the Stratagems out of your base Chapter’s book as well as Doctrine bonus.

So with that said, Stealthy and Long Range Marksmen might be the Dark Angels Successor player’s bread and butter. Stealthy count your units as always being in cover from 12″ and beyond. While Long Range Marksmen increases the range of your guns by another 3″.

Take that into account with your Doctrine bonus and you’ll have squads of units gaining a bonus 9″ of range while almost always being counted as in cover. We may be about to see parking lot Dark Angels armies just castle up and start unloading on the enemy well before any other Space Marine Chapter normally could.

What do you think about this synergy for Dark Angels fans? Will they be able to outgun a Tau gunline?
