RUMORS: Saga of the Beast 40k Starter Box & New Models

space marine primaris wal hor site shadowspearThese are some SPICY rumors. The latest word on the street is that new Primaris Space Marines and Orks are coming in a Saga of the Beast 40k Starter Box!

Spotted initially on Sprues and Brews, there have been some rumors mentioning another Box Set to release alongside Saga of the Beast. In the same way that we saw Jain Zar and Drazhar released in their own themed Box Set, we could be seeing Ragnar and Ghazghkull hit the table like that as well.

HEAVY DISCLAIMER: Before we jump into the rumors, Sprues & Brews sourced the info to Twitter. However, they didn’t provide a link to the post and from the screenshot below, it looks like it was actually taken from Facebook by someone who may speak Italian?

Just keep all of that in mind when you read these rumors.

saga of the beast box set rumorsThe key highlights from that are Ragnar and Ghazghkull are supposedly coming in a Box Set together with Meganobz as well as some Primaris Infiltrators with new tech.

Blood of the PhoenixThis sounds a lot like the Blood of the Phoenix Box Set where we saw both factions get updated characters and units inside. Now, this is a lot to digest but there’s actually more to the story.

New Primaris Marine Sketch?

primaris unit sketch jes goodwinAlso seen on the same post, there’s a pic of some Marines in a sketchbook supposedly from designer Jes Goodwin. Now we mentioned that there were some Primaris Infiltrators with grenade launchers supposedly coming, but this artwork seems to differ a lot.

First of all, they’re not wearing Phobos armor and those guns aren’t grenade launchers. They honestly look like a solid rendering of a Primaris Devastator unit with the classic Intercessor-pattern power armor.

Ragnar Returns in Another GW Short Story

Blood_on_the_mountain_ragnarRagnar was also seen recently in another GW Psychic Awakening short story to help hype Saga of the Beast. The story is pretty big so we recommend you read it all for yourself. But there’s one key thing to note here. Ragnar is on the hunt for Ghazghkull.

Ragnar began the hunt for Ghazghkull in earnest, determined to cut the head from the beast and put an end to him once and for all.

The last the Space Wolves heard of Ragnar’s strike force was a garbled astropathic transmission from the Wolf Lord claiming that he had tracked the beast to its lair on the hive world of Krongar. What little could be understood from the message was that Ragnar’s Great Company was divided between a number of different war zones, so he didn’t have the numbers with him to launch a full-scale planetary attack. Instead, he planned to lead a covert mission that would infiltrate the Orks’ foremost stronghold and force a direct confrontation with Ghazghkull, enabling Ragnar to kill the beast in person.

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka orks wal horNow that we know Ragnar is planning to ambush Ghazghkull after an ‘ard day of krumpin’, the rumored description of Ragnar’s sculpt seems pretty fitting. -i.e him jumping from a rock with his sword reared back, getting ready for a finisher cut.

We know that this is a lot to take in and the source is sketchy at best, so we’ll have to wait and watch for the big previews next week.

But if Gazghkull, Ragnar, and some other new sculpts come inside a Psychic Awakening Box Set, how much do you think it’ll all cost? Would you rather wait the 6 months for the kits to drop individually?
