FFG-asmodee-price-hikesPrice hikes from Asmodee/ FFG have hit games stores. Check out the list of adjustments that you should expect once your LGS opens back up.

A few months back, we saw that Asmodee was raising the prices on a few of their signature games. This was roughly a 10-20% increase across the board. Now, while the global crisis is still going on, depending on when you make it back to your LGS sort of hinges on your location.

With that said, once things normalize enough for businesses to keep opening their doors, you should be seeing that these Asmodee games are a bit more expensive.

In other big announcements, Alliance Games distribution is ready for action once again in the midst of the chaos going on around the world, so supplies of these games should be coming back into stores shortly as well.

We Knew This Was Coming: FFG Asmodee Announces Price Hikes at GAMA

We saw that the prices were coming earlier this year from 2020’s GAMA.

star wars rebels legion headerAsmodee, which if you didn’t know, parents Fantasy Flight Games, dropped the announcement that their prices would be going up on products.

Asmodee announced dozens of MSRP increases, most ranging from 10-20%, on key game lines at GAMA Expo today.  The changes affect evergreen lines including Catan, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, and others.  Retailers will be able to order the affected titles at the current prices through April 30; the new prices will take effect on May 1.  The price increases are related to underlying cost inflation over the past several years, a period during which Asmodee has kept pricing flat.

Now that we’re well into May, the price increase is here. We saw a chart made first on ICv2 showing what games would be going up exactly.

“The trade war that we are in the middle of with China has cooled off quite a lot,” he said.  “There’s not been any additional tariffs, as of right now, our products have been unaffected. We haven’t done any tariff-related increases.  If we did do that, we would do it as a surcharge on a temporary basis. It would go alongside of the tariff and be removed when the tariff was removed.”

As part of the latest announcement, the same chart was release on Asmodee USA’s website. Now you’ve heard it straight from the horse’s mouth folks. While the lasting effects from the global crisis are still being felt, when your LGS opens back up, you can expect to see some of the classic boardgames a bit more expensive than you might remember.

Star Wars Legion Core SetSome staple games like Ticket to Ride, Catan, and Pandemic have all jumped in price. Other new games like Star Wars Legions’ Core Set have jumped up as well. The price increase on Asmodee’s more popular games is pretty big. On top of the new prices, we know that slated for June 1st, 2020, they’ll also become their own distributor.

Overall, we’ve been seeing potential signs of trouble at FFG since last year. However, 2019 and 2020 have been a hectic season for people and businesses alike. It could all have been a part of a bigger corporate shift to make a healthier industry.

With the new price increase here, did you grab any games before they went up? Is the Star Wars Core Set still a good buy for someone interested in the game?
