A countdown clock has emerged on Avalon Hill’s website for something HeroQuest related- will it be the return of the classic 1980’s board game?

Avalon Hill has a countdown clock that’s running down with just days left until it strikes 00:00:00. Check out the details revolving around what may be just around the corner for HeroQuest!

What Is HeroQuest?

According to  Wikipedia:

HeroQuest, sometimes written as Hero Quest, is an adventure board game created by Milton Bradley in conjunction with the British company Games Workshop. The game was loosely based around archetypes of fantasy role-playing games: the game itself was actually a game system, allowing the gamemaster (called “Morcar” and “Zargon” in the United Kingdom and North America respectively) to create dungeons of their own design using the provided game board, tiles, furnishings and figures.

The game manual describes Morcar/Zargon as a former apprentice of Mentor, and the parchment text is read aloud from Mentor’s perspective.

Several expansions were released, each adding new tiles, traps, artifacts, and monsters to the core system.

This is a long-running classic for big board game fans and perhaps its getting a reboot!

HeroQuest Countdown Clock Shrouded in Mystery

hero questAt the time of writing this, there are about seven days left on the clock but there’s the classic “HeroQuest” logo above the numbers. There’s also a fitting skeleton character to the left whose file name for is called “Witch Lord”.

While there aren’t any official details other than this mystery countdown, it’s left a lot of speculation. Could this be another board game? Will GW be behind the model design again after all these years? Could it be a video game version using all the latest tech to bring us a high definition campaign? These seem to be some of the bigger questions making their way across the web.

One thing is for sure. We should all keep our eyes peeled for any other HeroQuest mentioning in the days ahead as well as marking our calendars for when this clock strikes 00:00:00!

Would you like to see a new Hero Quest board game? Would you rather it be a video game sold on a platform like Steam?
